“Great location!”

I visited Tokyo this year for New Years with friends, so we wanted to stay somewhere reasonably priced and in the downtown core. There's no breakfast, but there is a Tully's cafe on the first floor with decent coffee and sandwiches. The hotel is located right next to the Higashi-Shinjuku station, and you can easily walk to Shinjuku San-Chome, where there are lots of great restaurants, pubs, and Kabuki-cho for nightlife and clubs. It is also a five-minute walk from Korea Town. The rooms are small, but clean - we spent very little time at the hotel, so it was great for a good night's sleep and hot shower. The staff were really nice, and spoke English. The one thing to consider is that there is a huge difference between a regular twin room and an eco-twin. The eco-twin room technically has two beds, but they are stuck together and cannot be separated. The regular twin is much bigger and the beds are on completely different sides of the room. I'd recommend this place for people who aren't planning to spend much time in their room, and want to be right downtown.

“Good location but noisy!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Great location as it is just beside the Higashi Shinjuku station, as in right above it. Not liked many of the hotels in Shinjuku area which advertised themselves as strategically located near metro exit but in actual fact, need to walk 10 mins from the actual metro station. Definitely a plus after a long day of shopping or sight seeing.

BUT, and that is a big but, while it is in great location, it is probably also near some hospital which means you get sirens blasting down the streets liked every 15 mins. Yeah, we timed and counted. And no it does not stop after mid night. And no, the windows, though adequately sealed, can't shut off the sound of the sirens and loud hailer. This means you still get a averagely loud "announcement" of ambulance approaching every 15 mins till wee hours (the last i counted was 2 plus in the morning). It was a nightmare to fall asleep. And this is coming from us who stay near a metro in our home country. But nothing ear plugs can't do to reduce the noise.

Lastly, E hotel has really tiny hotel rooms and bathroom. Solo traveller would be fine with it. But for couples or families, I would not really recommend. And this is coming from two 5 ft 2 and 5ft 5 Asian couple.

So for deep sleeper, average size solo traveller who dig convenience to the metro E hotel is not a bad choice. Plus it is fairly new. Service is adequate and polite.

Room Tip: Just bring your ear plugs

“Meh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

This hotel is very average. It's new, clean and it's well located but this is where it all ends. Rooms are small, even for Japanese standards. The bathroom was so tiny the toilet bowl didn't fit well and you couldn't sit properly, and we are not big people. No breakfast and more expensive than Sun Members also in Shinjuku and the room was very hot. We tried to open the window but it was very noisy outside so either way we couldn't win! The good thing about it is that there were plenty of places to eat around it, but it's Shinjuku so I don't think that's a major bonus. Staff were pleasant, and they consistently are in Japan so that's not a reason to choose this hotel over another. There are better places to spend your nights in Tokyo, I wouldn't choose this one. (Feb 2010).

“Welcome to Shinjuku”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

This hotel is strategically located in Shinjuku. The hotel is within walking distance of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observatory and close to the bars, convenience stores and restaurants. It is conveniently located close to the Shinjuku station where the airport limousine bus starts for Narita and Haneda airports and the hotel is right next door to a Tokyo Metro Station.

The hotel is easy to find being located along a main road and its white façade stands out. Its interior of black and cream with accent of stainless steel gives it an ultra-modern ambience that blends very well with its surrounding of a modern metropolis. We stayed in a corner room, with 2 double beds and a lot of space for 3 people. The beds and pillows are soft and very comfortable. Amenities include free wifi, hot pot, flat screen TV, dresser and writing desk and two windows with a view. As in the other hotels we stayed in in Tokyo and Kyoto, ice machine and vendos are found in each floor.

The hotel staffs, typical of Japan, are very helpful and very courteous.
The only disadvantage of being located along a main thoroughfare and being in the 5th floor is street noise which can be heard in our room.

Room Tip: Corner rooms must be larger than other rooms judging from the review of other travellers. i suppose...

“Great location and good value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2010

I like to travel to Japan, I usually stay at more popular hotels, but this time me and my friend got budget! So I found this new and small hotel near Shinjuku! :)
Pros: Inexpensive, clean, neat, great location(Walking distance to Shinjuku, subway entrance right next to hotel), quiet but convenient (open 24hr restaurants and convenient store right next to hotel), hotel has everything a traveler needs(washing machine, vending machine, business center, ironing machine)!
Cons: Just small! (1 male/female=good, 2 females=just alright, probably take turns packing, 2 males=you won't be able to move)
Next time I go to Tokyo alone, it's still a good choice!! :)
