“Hard to find, but otherwise great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I stayed at Agnes Hotel on a business trip. I can't fault the hotel at all: the rooms are well-appointed - complete with heated toilet seat and jacuzzi bath - and the service is impeccable. Breakfast is a sort of fusion buffet with cereals available but also oriental options and eggs to order.

The only caution to offer is that it's hard to find. If you have been to Tokyo before you'll know addresses are notoriously imprecise. Our cabbie was ready to drop us in the rain at the bottom of a staircase until I pleaded the heaviness of my bag and he went and asked a local shopkeeper for directions. If it helps, there's street access from the road running along the canal (I forget the name) and there's a university building and the British Council offices on either side of the intersection.

The area itself is great, considered the French area of Tokyo, with lots of narrow alleys and amazing restaurants.

“Everything's great and quaint at Agnes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

This is my first trip to Tokyo and on business. I was skeptical when my office booked Agnes because it's an unknown hotel (to Singaporeans) and it looks like a leisure hotel more than a business one. The taxi driver and his GPS did not know this place, and it took some time for us to find it. However, after I entered the hotel premises, I knew I was going to love my 8-night stay there.

So much thought has been put into making this hotel work. From the clean and quiet room, quality toiletries to carefully prepared breakfast, this hotel is just great for both leisure and business. The only setback is that there's no wifi, but wired internet is free and fast in the room.

5 mins walk and it gets you ildabashi station, where there is the JR and metro which will take you all over Tokyo. There's also a variety of eateries around this area, so you won't go hungry.

I will definitely come back to this hotel - both leisure and business!

“Everything looks good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

I love this hotel! The location is great. I found many great local shops and eateries. There's even a lovely movie theater within a few minutes’ walk,
The room is clean, very well maintained and everything still looks brand new. Love the mini bar that comes with tasty.
Exceptional service - all staff are courteous, pleasant and really helpful, calling taxis for us and helping with directions.
All in all, we enjoyed staying at this hotel and will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2008

I have stayed at this hotel twice for business trips. The staff speaks English very well and has been helpful to me when I needed directions, a cab, etc. The rooms are a nice size and the bathrooms are nicely updated. They have a variety of options for breakfast including both Japanese and Western style foods. It is a short walk the Kagurazaka area which has many restaurants and shops. The Idabashi train station is also very close by.

  • Liked — The staff is very helpful and the rooms are always clean.
  • Disliked — I haven't had any problems with this hotel.
