We stayed at Les Chaufourniers during a weekend getaway from Paris. I have stayed in many B&Bs all over France, and I must say that this is one of the best. Florence and Dominique bought the old farmhouse three years ago and renovated it with exquisite taste - warm colors, beautiful fabrics, and extraordinary attention to detail. I suppose this is not a surprise given that Florence ran a hotel before opening the B&B, and Dominique was a professional gardner - there are flowers all over the property, including some of the most beautiful roses I have even seen.
At Les Chaufourners, one has the option of staying in the main house or renting one of the "gîtes" on the property, which can be rented for a week or more. These latter are in a separate, completely renovated old farm building, and are complete with their own kitchens and terraces. There is also a badminton net, two courts for playing boules, and a play structure for children.
At the main house, we decided to take advantage of the "table d'hôtes" one evening and dine at the B&B. Florence put together a delicious dinner using local products, including a zucchini and pont l'eveque chese tart, white fish with a cider cream sauce, a sampling of delicious regional cheeses and an apple tart for dessert. We enjoyed chatting with two other couples who were also staying at the B&B, and Dominique made sure all our wine glasses remained filled. :)
I recommend Les Chaufourniers without hesitation to anyone travelling to this area. It is about a 5-10 minute drive from Bayeux and a wonderful way to experience this beautiful area of France.
