This is highly recommended. We spent 4 nights end July with our 15 year old. Weather was quite hot some days but room was cool, with a fan and numerous windows with shutters. Catherine put an extra bed in the upstairs room Anise, plenty large enough. It's an old farmhouse with lots of charm. The nicest room is probably the red one downstairs, Cocqlicot with its stone floor and beams. Nice decor, colours, old beams, windows opening to fresh air, good bathroom. No hairdryer in room but Catherine supplied one within a minute of asking. The pool is lovely, just below the house, but overlooking open fields and views on the bastide of Castelnau. Catherine is helpful and bright and around at breakfast and other times to answer all your queries. The mix of people were from France, Belgium and England, a good chat at breakfast. There's a guest kitchen to chill your wine and prepare or eat a meal. Clothes line to hang your wet towels or hand washing. Breakfast is mostly fine, but I'd prefer not to have the pre packaged croissants/ choc bread, but there's fresh bread, cereals, juice, yoghurt, fruit, home made jams too. A minutes drive (15 min uphill) to Castelnau, a 'Plus Beaux Village' where we ate a very nice meal in the hotel under the arcades, though a bit expensive. Best meal was in Gaillac, 10 mins drive away at La Sommelier. Visit Puycelsi, Penne, Bruniquel, St Antonin, go canoeing. Albi wonderful.Shop at Cordes. you could even go to Toulouse for the day. In high summer, join a night 'tasting' at one of the many wineries, live music, BBQ, fun. Catherine responds promptly and in detail to emails. Her price is also right. Enjoy The Tarn.
