Whatever one thinks of the green eco credentials of Six Senses this is a good resort. This is the third Six Senses resort we have stayed at and we just love the plunge pools with each villa. We stayed in an entry level villa – 215 and it was very private and not over-looked by any other villas. Some are less private and obviously the beach front ones are on the beach and can be looked into by people on the beach.
The two restaurants were good – but the Vietnamese kitchen was not open every night (we stayed for 10 nights) and did have the same limited menu on both nights we dined there. The chefs table (on the last night) was fab and we were well looked after. We were told they are planning on opening another dining option in the town – that would be good.
We liked the Spa and thought it was well priced – just over £70 (US$112) for a full 90 minute massage (including 5% service charge and 10% tax) seems good value to us. As always the Spa is minimal but calm – we always think more could be done with the Six Senses Spa areas!
Our butler was wonderful – and we became quite protective when she even answered her phone on her day off.
There is a problem with the sand shifting in the bay and it clearly made direct beach access from some beach villas difficult and exposed and broke some of the gabions in place – exposing the wire cages in the sand. On one day a large digger was deployed to move the sand from around the pool area back to the sea.
The bikes in the resort were a bit rickety - and not well maintained - but fun nonetheless.
The town is well worth visiting.
