“Their people are their assets.”

My stay in November 2011.

This isn't a hotel on a grand scale. It is however reasonably large and there isn't much that one would feel lacking for.

I stayed at one other hotel in Patong that had bigger size and brand name to go with it but pales in comparison to Pacific in everything from room size to warmth to use of the swimming pool (accessible 24 hours a day even though service stops at a certain late hour). And the fact that the pool's on the roof gives it a sense of privacy.

The rooms were large & adequate, each with a balcony that overlooked the gardens and the sauna at one corner of it that stayed open till about 23:00, the food very competitively priced, and the service friendly. I just wish I didn't keep forgetting to tell them to make it spicy when I ordered Thai.

The staff would strike that personal rapport, make you feel at home. I forget the names- the young Indian man from Kashmir, the sweet Thai lady at the reception, and the very philosophically thoughtful and compassionate Burmese waiter at the restaurant- but when i go back to Phuket, it will be such a pleasure to see them all again.

Breakfast was a simple spread of what one normally expects to the delicious thai variety of the day.

Its located on a hill that has the most beautiful drive way up a slope to it in the nights when the lanterns light up. I used to quite enjoy those dark late night desolate walks back although I did hire a bike from the hotel a few days in. It also occured to me on a gaze from the balcony that if ever again was there a tsunami, I doubt it would reach Pacific unless the wave was the size of a mountain.
Its all really quite walkable if one doesn't mind a 10-15 minute walk to beach road where a lot of the bars, restaurants and foot massage places are located. Alternatively just ride. Just know though that if you ride, you will want to avoid being a few beers down both for safety and if a traffic policeman flags you and smells it, I hear it will be trouble.

The pool's fantastic. Doesn't have a deep side but it does have the length for laps. It drizzled one such afternoon, and I had the most amazing time- the view, the drizzle, the pool and just quiet reflection. They didn't have a barman around though.

If I'd be allowed any constructive critisicm, it would be the plumbing of the wash basin and the bath cubicles. I stayed in 3 different rooms and they all had the same problem. I really would have given it the excellent rating, if the outflow of water was fast and unhindered.

See you again sometime.

We had the pleasure of experiencing thai hospitality at its best. The day would start with a buffet breakfast spread & ofcourse the eggs made to order in many styles. After that v headed for the white beaches of Kuron, just a 10 min walk. pick some lunch or eat some when we felt like it. Recommend the lunch & dinner at the hotel.

I want to recommend the massage. Book in the morning for the same afternoon or next day. The front staff are very glad to book transport as they have their own van to different spots on the island. They also booked the fantasea show which is a must do while in Phuket. All our rooms were clean and kept very neat throughout our 5 day stay. The hot pool was enjoyable & roof pool too.

Truly a 5 star experience for 3 star price. Thai value for money. :-D

“Very Good for the Price”

Stayed 26th jan for 2 weeks. It was very nice but nobody seems to mention the building work going on right next door. The noise wasn't that intrusive as we didn't spend our days at the hotel but went out around Phuket on the scooter hired from the hotel. But the couple of times we came back early for a dip and sit around the pool found there was a bit of noise, just something to consider. we ate I think 3 times at the hotel at night, once when we weren't feeling so good after picking up some sort of chest bug, and each time there was not more than 3 other couples eating which made the whole thing a little lacking in atmosphere, but the food was reasonable, especially the filet steak my wife chose 1 night, that was superb.
With reference to the scooter, if you do hire one be extra careful when going down the hill from the hotel as there is a lot of sand and dirt on the road from the building work next door and the road is lethal. On the day we arrived a guy was sitting in reception swathed in bandages from where he had come off his scooter along with his wife on the road outside the hotel, I also saw 2 scooters from the hotel next door fall off whilst I was waitng outside for some friends to arrive, 1 guy really cut himself up badly, I don't understand why the road doesn't get swept as it really is dangerous. I don't know why the owner doesn't seem to want to speak or socialise with the guests, its not like there are hundreds of people staying there, unless it was just us, but it would be a nice touch to at least say hello and ask how things are going instead of not even acknowledging my presence. all said I would recommend this hotel to all but the most fussy.

Room Tip: Payed extra for high room, got the 3rd floor, 4th floor is best.

Hello Philglos,

Thanks for taking the time to place a review. The reason you don't see me there is because I am over 50 and now enjoy my time traveling and collecting ideas for new resorts. My niece Gaye is on hand at reception quite often, David our F&B manager lives on site, and Peter my mate who takes care of our IT lives on site over half the time. They provide me with plenty of reports as to what's happening when I'm away, but I can't walk out the door from hundreds or thousands of miles away on a daily basis and say "Hello". Also, we trust our reviews and the links in our site to contact me directly as good sources of feedback. Also, the doctor ordered me to avoid stress, so when in Thailand I live on the beach outside of Bangkok in a new area which is up and coming. It will certainly be the site of a new resort for folks who feel Phuket has gotten over commercialized.

Also, I feel most folks don't want to stay in a place where you get schmoozed. You'll notice from reviews at many small properties that it's very likely people wrote a review because they were schmoozed. I don't think that's what people want in a hotel. We respect that our Guests want to enjoy a nice private holiday in a nice professionally operated place with good friendly service. I think it's more professional. So when I do visit Pacific Club I don't seek out to say "Hello" with Guests unless it seems to happen naturally. I observe and try to learn what our Guests want from a distance only inquiring when it appears someone might have an issue and of course saying Hello when folks might see me and figure out who I am :-). But generally speaking when I come to Pacific Club it's for a holiday, it's a great benefit of being the owner to stay for free in a nice place which you designed and built :-)

As for the building going on across the street, I guest the fact it's so far away and our building is so soundproof, it's easy to understand why nobody has mentioned it over the year since they started. It does however provide for interesting viewing. During my last visit I had one of the Two Bedroom Suites on the side closest to the project and although I could barely hear anything I enjoyed watching the work with my binoculars. For our readers, there is no building on property directly adjoining Pacific Club. Thank God, that's all over with years ago.

Happy Traveling,

E

“loved every minute”

this hotel was just lovely. it is just set back enough out of the way but near enough - 10 mins walk into town or the beach. it was lovely and quiet at night with just the crickets chirping.

the roof top pool was nice and you could just ring down if you wanted a drink. the jacuzzi and sauna at the end of an exhausting day at the beach was so relaxing and left your skin feeling really smooth. had a massage which was also worth every penny! the airport transfer was waiting when we arrived and saved any hassle of taxis and was a reasonable price too.

it is kept beautifully clean and the staff couldnt do enough. we ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times and it was quite romantic with candles on the table.

so in short - i wouldnt stay anywhere else if i was to return to Karon beach - it would always be The Pacific Club Resort.

“Lovely Place”

I agree with all the positive reviews about this hotel on Trip Advisor. The airport pickup was great and we arrived to a cold glass of fruit juice. Stayed in room 101 which I would not suggest if you want a good view because all you have in front of you is a new block of a resort staring back at you.
We ate in the hotel the first night and the food was really good. I would not suggest the cocktails as they seemed to have very little or any alcohol in them.
The roof top pool was just lovely and a really peaceful way to spend the afternoon after walking up the hill from the beach.
The hill up from town should not be a problem to anyone, unless they have difficulty walking. The two shops next to the Best Western supply everything you might need, so you don't have to walk far to stock up your fridge.
All in all a great hotel that I would highly recommend.

Thank You for visiting us and placing a review, I am posting a reply from David, our F&B Mgr, below.

Eric

Thanks for taking the time to review us and mention the details of your stay.

I apologize if you feel your cocktails were not made properly but we do have strict guidelines that staff use when mixing cocktails from our bar recipes, and all staff use measuring utensils when making cocktails. No one free pours so that we can avoid these kinds of discrepancies and maintain proper costing. I can assure it is not hotel policy to serve drinks that do not contain the standard amounts of alcohol. Similar to our food service, we go to great lengths to source and provide the best values we can, and to train our staff.

For me to better investigate what happened with your drink service would you please take the time to send me a private message telling me which drink or drinks you felt were under poured.

I have spoken to the F and B staff, reviewed drink procedures, and asked them to be sure to mix all cocktails and drinks to spec.
