“luxe family holiday”

A lot of our friends have stayed at the JW Marriott next door but we were looking for a more low key family resort (sprawling big hotel chains are not for us). Our four children (ranging in age from 4 months to eight) loved Anantara and so did we! Also, we had no problem going between the JW Marriott (we had friends staying there) and Anantara as apparently it is the same owner so we were able to share and compare the restaurants and even the pool facilities. We had a two-bedroom villa and it was spacious enough for a family of six. Villa pool is completely private, barbecue in the sala was a great experience as the sun set... friendly frogs, a gardener who brought a newly hatched baby bird to our villa for the children to see, inquisitive lizards, crabs on the beach 20 metres away from our villa's front door, outdoor cinema, mocktails by the pool, spa opened until 10.00 at night (so relaxing after putting the little ones to bed), a well-stocked library for all ages, smiling staff, the paints and toys for the children and a little used kids club all served to make this one of the best family holidays we've ever had. The restaurant by the beach was brilliant one night and okay the next but we were so relaxed, we did not care. Breakfast was excellent all five mornings of our stay (and feeding the resident ducks was a bonus each morning) although the Italian restaurant for dinner was disappointing. We stayed April 2011 and I am just planning a return to Phuket and seriously considering Anantara again because it was just so perfect.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

I don't have a single bad word to say about the Anantara Phuket Villas. Yes, they are expensive, but probably the best example in my experience of 'getting what you pay for'. We stayed in a pool villa and every detail of the villa was simply beautiful. The pool area was luxurious and we didn't feel any ened to go outside our own little compound!

The villas are very private and well serviced, having a mini bar next to the day bed in the pool area was wonderful. Room service delivers inside and our so we really did not have to lift a finger.

Venturing out, the grounds are very well tended and pleasant to wander around. The hotel pool is lovely and the beach is gorgeous, but sadly in the 2 days we were there the currents were too strong to allow swimming. There are restaurants on site which are very good, but for a longer stay you can also wander up the beach to some of the other hotels, plus just outside the main entrance there is a small village square area with chops, a cafe and an English style pub so there are plenty of food options.

The hotel spa is wonderful and very relaxed. I had a head massage and facial while I was there, but on discovering the knots in my shoulders, the therapist gave my a thai massage as well for a few minutes but did not charge. Also, as there was a gap between the therapists changing over between treatments, she filled time by giving me a hand massage, again at no charge. It was a wonderfully indulgent experience.

I noticed someone else had commented on the attention to detail in their review - I think that would be one of the stand outs for me as well as well as the excellent customer service. Would love to return again in the future.

“a piece of paradise”

we spent a week at Anantara Phuket Villas with our 10 year old twins. We had a pool villa, which was perfectly clean and very well designed. Attention to detail was one of the things we appreciated most. From the comfy beds and luxurious linen, the polished hardwood floors, the quality of the shampoo, the softness of the towels - everything was perfect. The private pool is just big enough to wake you up in the morning. The kids enjoyed it a lot.
The public pool near the beach is beautiful, surrounded by palm trees and many other typical plants. The beach is immaculate, not crowded at all. Sunsets galore. Little downside: reservation of chairs and salas at the pool made life a little less spontaneous. we took the catamaran out several times, enjoyed a cheap massage at the beach hut, had cheap lunch at the nearby café.
Breakfast was perfect, dinner at the Sala restaurant always fresh, of highest quality and very tasty.
A big thank you to all the friendly staff at Anantara. Even the gardeners would greet us with a big smile every time we drove by with our kids on the bikes you can grab everywhere.
We had a great time and would certainly recommend this place and would also love to return.

“Paradise found..”

Our second time to Southern Thailand and we were not disappointed by the Anantara Phuket.

The villas are stunning as many have mentioned, they are designed to feature lots of wood and plants in the outdoor areas, as such it does look rustic rather than polished and clean however isn't that what you want in a resort in Thailand!

The hotel was full during our stay in Janaury however the friendly teams at the restaurant, poolside and Spa where always full of smiles and sawasdee's - the food is excellent and again exactly what you want from a Thai resort - perfect Thai food and solid western favourites.

We took an excellent boat trip arranged by the hotel on a private boat across to Phi Phi and Krabi, a place we loved a few years ago - it was pricey but the boat was stunning and our private crew took us to quiet places and abandoned beaches after the mess that is now Maya Bay (so sad).

There was only one small issue with room cleaning times which was dealt with smartly by the hotel manager even with a nice card and fruits that evening to apologise for the challange as he put it, hardly an issue.

All in all with the great villas, the really well put together gardens and other main areas added with the friendly service and great food it one of the best hotels I have stayed at - not as shiny as some but a true Thai paradise!

Room Tip: All rooms are pool villas and if your lazy ask for one by the beach...

“Perfect Honeymoon Destination”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Another beautiful Thai resort in Phuket at the calm waters of Mai Khao Beach. A perfect destination for honeymooners, couples and families seeking a peaceful and serene environment. The resort is 30 - 35 min away from Phuket Airport and 45 min away from Phuket Town.

During our 6 nights stay, we noticed a very high turnover rate of guests; mainly tourists from Eastern Europe. We stayed at a Sala Pool Villa (Villa 33) and it was really great having our own pool and sala overlooking the lagoon. A quiet place for a romantic dinner!

The villa was amazing. Layout very practical. It almost had all amenities and if anything additional was required all we needed to do is contact the Guest Service Center and it will be available in no time at our room. We had a small issue with ants and flying insects (normal thing in villas) but it was controllable with baygon spray (offered complimentary by the resort) and mosquito repellent body cream (offered by resort as well). We were loaded with complimentary stuff and the staff were beyond helpful doing their best in meeting our requests and demands.

Anantara Phuket Villas has mainly 2 restaurants (La Sala & Sea.Fire.Salt). Both offer delicious food with nice presentation. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at La Sala and seafood dinners at Sea.Fire.Salt. The "Tree House" is the place for an evening (sunset) drink. The "Infinity Pool" is a wonderful place for tanning by the shores of Mai Khao Beach and enjoying cocktails at the pool bar. A chillaxing tropical experience!!

The resort is very well landscaped and maintained. Every corner is a setting for a beautiful photo. Recommended for honeymooners, couples and families seeking a relaxing and calm getaway!
