I had the time of my life!
Service:
Outstanding. They usher you to your suite, show you how to get around, assign a personal golf cart and villa manager to you (who can be reached by personal cell phone). The make all the reservations you need (golf, spa, car service, horse riding, snorkeling). If there is anything lacking in the room, all you have to do is call and they'll fix it right away.
Carolin and Yulianna of the concierges were especially nice and friendly.
Suite:
I traveled with a female friend and we had a Junior Suite with Ocean view and two beds. The bathroom was spa-like with a large, jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. We had room 6223 with a wraparound terrace very close to the water. Amazing. The room war so clean that after walking around barefoot all day my feet weren't even dirty :) At turn-down they leave you little truffles every night and we also used the complimentary shoe shine.
Food:
We had breakfast included, which is either served poolside at Bamboo or in the room ($10 charge). The oatmeal is outstanding. The service personnel is extra nice. For dinner I also preferred Bamboo were we ate twice. It's a treat to hear you waiter recite the French wines with his adorable accent. Also the restaurant at Playa Blanca is lovely in setting, service and food quality. (The driver will get you there at no extra cost.) We tried La Yola and while the setting was absolutely gorgeous and there was a three-man group playing and singing with gorgeous voices, I will rate the food only mediocre, since my catch of the day (snapper) was a little too tough (something I don't expect from a seafood restaurant). We also went to Punta Cana village once and had dinner at Mamma Lucia, which was good. We had lunch in the room twice and every time the service was prompt and the salads fresh.
Spa:
My friend had a hot stone massage and was very pleased. The ladies there are friendly and forthcoming. The spa is right at the pool of the golf club (and the beach), which is nice to use after a treatment. There's also El Grill there, where we had lunch, which was delicious.
Beach:
No contest. The picture perfect, manicured, clean, white sand, turquoise water you'd expect from a luxury resort. At "rush hour" we were maybe 6 people at the private beach right in front of the villas. There are towels and loungers with umbrellas. All in front of a lush lawn. They even have little foot showers with towels so you can get the sand off you feet when exiting the beach.
Golf:
Now, Corales is the most beautiful and well maintained course I've ever played. That may in part be because it's brand new and there's only little traffic. But it's setting makes it an absolute jewel. It's on a slight plateau above the ocean cliffs and we played it three times (each in the afternoon, when the breeze is perfect). We are beginners and they set us up with great caddies who gave us many pointers. One, Domingo, is a 25 year caddy veteran and in the four hours I played with him I learned about as much as in the past two years of classes. He was patient, friendly, honest and superbly knowlegeable. We also had Joel, who is calm and mild mannered. And Santos, who is experienced and will give you tough love. Flavia, the pro shop manager, is very personable and helped us a lot with the set up and booking.
Airport service:
Great. You are greeted at the gangway with a sign that has your name. Then you're ushered through the lines with a personal guest coordinator and put in you personal car that drives you directly to the hotel. At departure it's the same again and you will wait in a private lounge where there are drinks, food, computers and seating areas.
All in all it's a perfect luxurious vacation, well worth the money. Go with the flow and relax :))More
