My husband and I recently returned from our sixth year in a row for an 11-day stay at Pelican Bay at Lucaya and it was just as wonderul...if not better! We celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary while there. Thanks to Della and staff for the note and bottle of champagne!
New to our waterfront suite was a 47" flat-screen TV, and a smaller one in the bedroom (not that we watch TV very much but...). Important note (and pehaps I'm being redundant from my other reviews): all the rooms (standard, deluxe, suite) are lovely and have water views, but the suites are fantastic! Absolutely worth the (few) extra dollars!!! We personally prefer the 3rd or 4th floor. I did notice that there are ramps available should one require them (wheelchair accessible). All rooms have a large patio or balcony with furniture. When booking, check if breakfast is included (4th floor of beautiful Canal House) in your rate or package. Otherwise, it is available at a number of restaurants at the (next-door) Lucayan Marketplace.
The marina-front restaurant on site "Sabor" has changed up its' menu and although it was always nice, it is now excellent! We had dinner there 3 times!! Kudos to Michael and staff! Great bar too! Happy hour from 5-7 and Sabor is also a great spot for an after-dinner drink. The other on-site restaurant (formerly the Ferry House) has re-opened and is now "Flying Fish". We did not have a chance to have dinner there. I was told that it was quite lovely though. Perhaps next time.
My husband fly-fishes for bonefish using the guide service "H20 Bonefishing", based out of Pelican Bay. Contact Greg Vincent directly at www.h20bonefishing.com for information on their guide service.
Just a note: Should you need a ATM, walk directly across the street to the Radisson. The ATM is located just inside the main entrance on your right. The machine dispenses Bahamian or American currency--both forms are used/interchanged at the same rate.
As per my previous reviews, little else has changed--a good thing!! Outstanding staff and beautiful grounds, the pools, the (free to Pelican Bay guests) 5-minute ferry ride to Taino Beach, the great shops and restaurants in the Marketplace, beautiful secluded beaches....
Most importantly though, is the friendly and happy People of the Bahamas. They are the main reason why we return to what has become our "home away from home" at Pelican Bay. Allen and I are already looking forward to our returning--again!
The 3rd of 4th floor are the quietest and have the best views---especially the suites!

It was such a pleasure meeting you on your recent trip! You are just as amazing as I imagined you would be..
Thanks for providing such a wonderful review regarding your stay! You're a great ambassador for our hotel, and I love that you took time to recognize the upgrades we have made not only in our staterooms (suites) but also regarding the Sabor restaurant.
We appreciate you and your husband staying with us and happy that you shared your 35th Anniversary with us!
Looking forward to seeing you on a return visit to Grand Bahama Island and of course to your #1 hotel, Pelican Bay.
