My spouse and I enjoyed a quiet week in January at Sky Beach Club. This is one of the newest properties on the island, and the construction and facilities are first rate, exactly per the website claims. Although development has been suspended in an operational, but limited state, the resort recently was acquired by people w/ substantial financial resources who are committed to renew and extend the development and facilities. The beach is beautiful, light pink sand w/ no shellfish or gulls and some seaweed which is raked daily by the staff. The resort is well situated and serves as an ideal base for touring and pursuit of activities such as snorkling, diving, fishing, sailing, etc. If you just want to laze and sunbathe, the resort has a beautiful small pool, bistro, and bar. Otherwise, rent a car from one of the locals and avail yourself of the excellent local restaurants, beaches, and beach bars. Sky Beach Club staff were just superb. The manager, Hubert, is on site and available to guests throughout the day, and he and his staff seem ready to serve almost any guest need at any time of the day. For example, Otish, one of the Bistro's gracious servers, discussed local food, restaurants, and island habits with us. She suggested we explore a local cave, and located flashlights for the visit. She also gave great directions, as many of the island features are not marked on the road. The rooms were serviced daily w/ minimal fuss. Matt Simon, the reservations agent also is a friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable source for info on the island.
The bungalows do not have internet access, but you can receive wifi from the pool area, if needed. Watch out for the bed frame boards in the bungalows, which wrap around the beds and rap you on the shins, if you are not careful. The Bistro is expensive, but on a par with the pricing of other, upper end eateries in the area, and cheaper than the comparable restaurants on Harbour Island.. There are less expensive restaurants a short drive away, if you want more of the local flavor.
All in all, we had a most pleasant week at Sky Beach Club. It is beautiful, and it is quiet. If you don't like quiet, then, why did you pick Eleuthera, anyway?
