I Quite liked this place. They always worked hard to keep it clean. It was comfortable, the wi fi always worked and there was tea and coffee at reception.

The Indian lady that ran the place was always friendly and helpful. She was happy to give her time with anything you requested. I also took their organized tour to the local sites, Tea plantations etc, and it was well run.

I came here after having problems at Twin Pines, and this place turned out to be A LOT better than twin pines.

There are nice gardens and Buddha statues everywhere :)

We stayed in Daniel's Lodge for a week and loved it. We can really recommend it and are surprised about the negative comments of other users. Yes, it is basic. But it is really cheap and this is one of the best value we had in SE Asia (and for sure in Malaysia). Rooms and bathrooms are clean, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the big terrace is perfect to chill and the beers in the bar (with bonefire) are cheap.
Just make sure you'll stay in Daniel's lodge (whhich is up the hill) and not in the hotel (on the main street). The lodge is really cosy and has a big commun terrace. The hotel is less atmospheric.
We also have good experience with the travel agency where we booked tours (same prices everywhere in town) and our bus ticket (different prices in town).
If we come back to the Cameron highlands, we'll definately stay in Daniel's lodge again.

Daniels Lodge was certainly one of the more social hostels we stayed in with a large open common area and a seperate jungle bar with a firepit open to the elements. It is located close to shops and restuarants in Tanah Rata and to the bus station. However the private rooms are dark, with windows onto the corridor and lots of mould - shame, as we would have stayed for the atmosphere.

We arranged a tour with Kang's tour and they recommended we stay here at their affiliated hotel. When you get here the english girl at the counter tries to sell you more stuff for Kang's tour and then you get your room. The rooms were so musty and smelly it was hard to breathe and the beds and sheets really smell also and I'm not even that fussy. The internet was ok for the 1st hr and then stopped working. Its an extremely noisy place and when the staff party and drink all night long you are unable to complain to them to keep it down at 3am.
The bathrooms never had toilet paper and you are unable to flush them at certain times so some nice surprises. All the sinks leak but there is hot water.

If you do the kang tour know its a Rip off and please note only the flower (when in season) and the tea plantation is worth a visit.
