"After reading the reviews on this resort we were a little nervous about having booked it but we were very pleasantly surprised when it exceeded our expectations. The resort was very clean, the staff were absolutely great and the food was amazing. If you are looking for a nice sandy beach then this is not the right resort for you because it's quite uneven and rocky, but we were more than happy to lay by the pool and relax. The rooms are very simple but clean and it's not like you spend that much time in your room anyways. We were upgraded to a room with a big balcony which was great. A couple of the nights we grouped together in someones room and ordered room service for dinner at 10pm. They have 24 hour room service and you can order anything you want and it's included in your all inclusive stay, you just have to pay a 50 peso delivery fee. The food was amazing though and the Sunday Champagne Brunch they have is unreal. They also have a lounge that you can hangout at and a Karaoke bar. The Italian Restaurant was delicious. I will mention that the hotel was only at 35% capacity when we were there so I'm sure that helped with the level of service we received but I would think they'd be good either way. I don't know how much more I can say, but I would DEFINITELY book there again. Hope this review helped!"

We stayed at the Sheraton Buganvilias for 3 nites in Jan. Overall it was fine, but we did experience a few minor issues - our reservation couldn't be found upon check-in, fortunately I'm SPG Platinum so they had no problem fixing it/finding me a room, but there was a large convention at the resort so it could have been an issue otherwise. We ended up in a smoking room, which fortunately was clean and tolerable so long as we kept the A/C fan on. The rooms/pool area are fine, not remarkable but definitely better than some other Sheraton's I've been too (they can vary a lot). The hotel is very close to Old Town/Malecon - about a 15min walk so that was nice, although cabs are so inexpensive in PV I'm not sure that was a big benefit.

Whether you are a frequent traveller or a casual vacationer, one does expect a few basic things to be provided and taken care. A clean room, working HVAC, efficient room service/check in and above all security. The aspect of security is something we take for granted at times, but it becomes the difference as a few of my friends staying at another local resort found out. The bonus in the hotel was its extra ordinary value for money (Average about $150/night in Dec/Jan) and no need to pay an 'all inclusive' resort. Pay for what you want and don't for what you don't! As simple as that. Plus almost all the rooms are ocean facing, so that's a huge bonus and you don't pay any more for that! If you have status as in Platinum or Gold, you have access to the lounge with free breakfast and happy hour. Made a lot of difference, especially after a late night out. Did I mention the awesome pool and swim in bar? The location was close to the Malecon (Board walk - about 10 minutes walk) and right across the street you get decent breakfast and fresh fruit juices.

Also, even though the hotel management has a resort next door and offer you coupons, once I told them I was interested, they were decent enough not to bug me. Usually there is some sort of event at the gardens by the ocean in the hotel, so if you are trying to sleep in early its a bit of challenge. However this is probably true of most of the hotels in Puerto Vallarta.

In total highly recommended and a great value for money!

The Sheraton is located so you can walk to the Malecon and Old Town ( about 1 1/2 miles) which is good if you have not gone all inclusive as the prices for drinks and food are high. The staff are freindly but the constant time share people are irritating!! The beach is not walkable as it is very rocky but the pool area is nice. Not sure if we will return to this resort as we felt like we were not important since we were not time share. Lots of convention people were given priority also. Even though we booked 6 months in advance and asked for non smoking we did not get it. OK experience
