The value of this resort, is it's people, exceptional attention in service, that being said the night of the black out, the spa ladies shared candles for us to light up the room.I felt very inept that I should have packed a mini flashlight, and thought of those people who had just decided to sit on their higher floors and be concerned on how they would get downstairs in the darkness of the truly beautiful star studded black sky night. Thankfully it was brief, but a lesson learned in having a packed flashlight.
My overall rating is very good. Grounds are meticulous, laden with spectacular detail of floral and fauna, coral still lives in walkable reef waters. House keeping was exceptional, addressed our door locks, addressed our water seepage in our closet. Our spirits were nourished by the smiles of the staff.
Massage at 117.00 per hour for 50 minutes per person was high and then a tip of 20 % on top.
Deep sea fishing was $240.00 for one person for four hours, my husband shared the boat, everyone worked really hard, and then again a tip but yes we had a fish to bring back and have cooked for lunch at the grill.
Yoga every morning set a calming pace, which in my opinion should be touted more ..... the instructor concentrates on mind relaxation breathing techniques so you do not have to be a ju jitsu type person or wear exotic attire.
Dinner on the beach extra charge should be a celebration of love and passion, it was private and lovely, I expected a rack of lamb to have more than 3 lamb chops with the traditional cuisine.
Our Room 302 was the "Poster Room" every travel agent or groups of agents and there were many that visited clicked away at the set up , however, the water that dripped from the upstairs private pool made sitting on the out door chaise a little chancy. Our view was adequate of the ocean and beach.
Our first morning, two gentlemen cleaning at 7 ish which I understand needs to be addressed, , woke me up and since one was only working and the other talking rapidly and loudly, I asked for Silencio, .....our neighbors told me it happens all the time they were there for several visits.
Mexico's music was showcased with Opera night, the food and service that evening was exceptional, come early to listen and have a drink, even though you have a reserved reservation.
Cuisine, to try :Poblano peppers are served as a sauce over eggs; mint water very refreshing ; cafe con crema; lime soup; spinach soup;flan; green tea cake, and a wide variety of warm wrapped tacos, cooked to order omelettes and seasonal fruits.House wines are from Spain fall short in our opinion. Surcharge for others were very pricey. We had vouchers but we had to spend $50.00 for a select menu offering of wines to use them.
Check in, I did ask for a upgrade and was shown an exceptional suite but the charge would have been $500.00 additional a night. Our package was through AMEX, 's preferred pair [ref) our concerige did not know the package details which surpised us. I did meet a couple who told me they just got a presedential upgrade without asking. hmm.....
Attire: this I need to address; signs on posted about it when you enter the two main restaurants for dinner, and yet.....sadly to say people are seated next to you with bathing suits that look like shorts and tops that advertise a beer commercial, I just don't get it.perhaps they forgot to pack some clothes, or should be asked to come back with clothing that reflects the house policy.
Room Tip: Do NOT get a swim up room near the swim bar
