“Charming, but no, thank you.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

This hotel has a lot of charm, inside and out. I loved my room, the atrium, the old restaurant room. Great colonial architecture.

But there was a smell everywhere, a smell of old and mold.

I could hear all my neighbors snoring, and I bet they could hear us!

The bathroom was worn out, and there was no hot water. I took a cold water shower in the morning.

What a pity! I bet it used to be a beautiful place.

The staff was so-so. Not very polite, but not indifferent or even offensive.

The breakfast was terrible.

The only good thing with this hotel is the location. Right in the middle of town.

“Badly needs remodeling.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

This COULD be a beautiful place and it once probably was, but a long long time ago. This "five" star hotel is set in an original colonial building with a lot of potential and a great location (just two corners from the main square). BUT. The jacuzzy was worn out, the bedroom tables were used and falling down, around the swimming pool was set a strange green carpet and when we ordered room service they brought us a menu that was falling apart and wrapped in cheap plastic (Mc Donald's has better menus :). Shame because this place could be so much more!

“Bad hotel, good location.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2011

This is an old colonial era hotel that is well located near the Zocalo. Our room smelled bad! There was a missing tile in the bathroom, with open grey water underneath. The smell was very musty and I am sure there was mold in the room. We requested another room, but after looking at it, decided it smelled even worse. The restaurant food was okay, but two of the young, breakfast waiters were rude and sullen. They seemed more interested in looking a facebook on the computer than serving us. The so called free wireless internet is a joke...very poor. I tried the hotel computer and than was even worse. Just gave up on the internet. The hotel itself could use a makeover, as it is looking a little shabby, faded carpets etc.. I was surprised at how poor it really was considering it is listed as a mid range to high end establishment.

“Just a lot of potential ;-(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel at the end of December 2010 but after two nights we decided to move to another one. The staff at the front desk were very nice and courteous. The first impression, from outside and the lobby, is that it is a colonial building with typical charm, but as we started to move towards our room, at the end of the 3rd floor, we noticed how poorly maintained it was. The hallway carpets were worn and filthy, the same as the window drapes and the upholstery on the two chairs in our room; fortunately, our room didn’t have carpet. The bathroom looked clean but had an overwhelmingly unpleasant odor, the light was much deemed and the shower head would splash the water everywhere and had very thin stream. The mattress was extremely hard and the sheets, bedding and towels were old and worn out.
The hotel has a very cheap system for saving energy; the only way that the electronics, AC and heat will work in your room is when your room key is placed into a slot on the wall. Every time you go out and have to take your key with you, everything turns off. So, no point of getting back to a warm room in the winter (or a cool room in the summer, I supposed), and no point in setting the clock/alarm in your room—you’ll have to do it every time you walk in.
At check in we were given some breakfast vouchers. The first morning we went down for the breakfast buffet, hoping to have a pleasant experience that will make us forget the discomfort of our room. It was a little cold but we sat at the patio because every table in the inside dining room was occupied. Nobody came to wait on us, so we decided to proceed to the buffet and help ourselves. Many of the trays at the buffet were empty and the selection was very limited. After about ten minutes we caught the attention of one of the waiters to ask for some decaffeinated coffee and give him our vouchers. He pointed out to us the very fine print on the paper where it read that the breakfast only includes coffee, juice, toast and marmalade. If we wanted the buffet we had to pay $90mx each. We agreed to pay because we had already served ourselves; otherwise we could have had much better breakfasts somewhere else. We waited more than 20 minutes and the coffee didn’t come. Finally, I went to look for the waiter and ask him. He took another ten minutes to bring us two cups of hot water with decaf coffee envelopes on the side… no toast… no marmalade. We paid and left, making some effort to forget the experience and enjoy our first day in beautiful “Puebla”.
The next day we decided to give it another try and went down for coffee, toast and marmalade; again, they took forever to serve us and when they finally brought the toast, we had to ditch the butter and marmalade from another tables.
Our advice: if you want to enjoy Puebla stay away from this hotel. The photographs and many of the reviews online are extremely deceiving. My only regret was not having taking some pictures to post online.
Puebla is a beautiful Colonial City, the people are the most courteous and friendly and there are plenty of places better than Posada de San Pedro to stay in.

“Great location, poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2010

It is fair to say that their location is great, however, we had a terrible experience.

1) No water; coming back from the night drink, we tried to take shower. However, there were no water coming out from the tub! We called the reception several times and waited for 30 mins, then we had to move to another room at 2:00 am!

2) Bad smell; The bathrooms were smelling bad in both rooms.

3) No care for the customers' possessions : We parked our car in their parking and left the car key, as it was valet parking. When we got back to our car after checking out, we found the key was attached to the car and all the car doors were unlocked....

4) Noise from the club of the hotel: We chose the room facing the inner garden, not the street because the staff said that it is more quiet. However, from the evening to mid night, we had to hear very loud and bad-taste music coming from the club inside the hotel. The music was everywhere in the hotel, and I felt sorry for the people who were having dinner in the hotel restaurant. They seemed not to be able to enjoy their chat at all.....

5) Unprofessional attitudes: In spite of all the trouble above, the hotel stuffs' attitudes were like ' SO WHAT?'..... It was not the kind of attitude which we expect for this class of hotels, unfortunately. Very unprofessional.

We regretted that we chose this hotel.
