“Last minute booking - Worth Every Penny - Best for Value Traveller”

Three guys with one night in Banff... couldn't have stayed at a better place for what we paid. Desk set us up with a room with three beds- regular rate. Beds had a great plush top - we all slept like babies. Room was clean. Breakfast was hot. Location was within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants... even in -30 degree weather. Managed not to get too destroyed and made it to the hills on time... bus picks you up right in front of the hotel and brings you to all the slopes... they have it together. Would recommend highly to value traveller.

Room Tip: try to avoid the HVAC - blows a lot of hot air in front of room.

Reasonable prices when booked more than a week in advance, clean room, and good ammenities. Very decent hot breakfast, less than a block from downtown, and heated underground parking.
We found the room was very warm at night, even with thermostat turned down and supplied fan running on high. We mentioned this on checkout and the attendant did not seem surprised or offer an explanation.
The pool/suana facilities were not maintained in great condition, and there were local young poeple who stayed at chain affiliated hotels who had access to these facilities, and one weekend night were very loud, obnoxious, and also drinking in the the hot tub. Will probably try a different hotel next time.

Room Tip: We stayed on first floor and found the building very warm.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review. We are glad that you enjoyed our location and the breakfast. As for our hot tub area, we do allow access for our guests staying in our sister properties next door, and we will keep a closer on eye on the behaviors of fellow guests in the future.

“9th visit to Banff from the UK, and another great hotel added to the list.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Firstly i would like to say, yet another brilliant ski holiday in Banff, ""The Canadian Rockies"".
We usually book our very last minute ski holiday through the major UK holiday brands, ""BUT"" this year the last minute prices had gone through the roof !!!!!, so i decided to take another route for booking our holiday, in the end i booked the flight, hotel and transfers via "" Canadian affair "" and what a huge saving, and very well organised and prompt, and with all the usual security cover, ie, abta, ect ect.

The HOTEL !!!!
What a wonderful stay we had.
The rooms are clean, and cleaned and maintained daily, comfortable, we had a lovely "out side" !! view with a balcony, they upgraded us to a view facing the mountains as it was my birthday whilst there ( free of charge) :-)). Tea Coffee maker in room and restocked daily.

PLEASE note!!! Many rooms have internal views of the atrium.

We had a package which included the hot buffet breakfast, very well worth it. Apparently when you book this hotel "independently" you get the offer of the breakfast for $5,TAKE IT!!! the breakfast is $14 at the hotel.
We usually stay at the top end of Banff Ave,which is a good 10/15 min walk in to Banff town, looooooooooovely BUT!!! at the end of the night at -36 !!!!!! and after a meal and a few pitchers (60 oz jug of lager) and a days skiing, the walk can seam haaaaaaaaaaaardd, SO, the location of the Ptarmigan was so easy on the legs n feet, its only a 1 minute walk into town and round the corner from Safeway store, :-)) :-)).

Ski lockers on site, 2 good whirl pools. free wireless AND Internet !!, good bar.
The new "Meatball" restaurant is a MUST.
We will be back!!!!!!!!!

(( we had a slight confusion over our breakfast package but the hotel managment and staff at the Ptarmigan very quickly dealt with it, so we would like to say thank you for your cheeri attitudes and help, and a special thank you, to Terryn in the restaurant !!!!
from the Robinsons. room 330, 18-25 jan 2012 !!!!!.

Room Tip: Make sure you are "aware" of what room you want, IE, external room with view and /or bal...

“Great hotel in our beautiful Banff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

It was a nice experience in this hotel. We stayed 2 nights in two rooms by the end of Dec 2011. The front desk lady (Australian) was very kind and helpful. Our room was very clean with two king size beds, modern TV, coffee maker and standard bathroom (very clean as well). We parked our cars in the underground basement, without any problem.

Hotel was a little overheated, but we opened the window few inches per few minutes and the temperature reduced. Additionally we use the desk fan available to keep the air circulating.

The breakfast was included in the room fee, it was very very nice with delicious options and excellent service. You can drink all the orange juice that you want, and eat fruits, cereal, eggs (as your choice), coffee, tea, sausages, yogurt, bread, muffins, pancakes, and much more....

The gym was modest but good enough for a quick treadmill and few weights. Jacuzzi, steam room, no bad specially when outside the temperature was minus 10C and snow.

So, with good rooms, free breakfast, free parking, free internet and good jacuzzi,,,, that is the best choice in Bannf for family and friends.

Room Tip: Location is very adequate to walk downtown very easily, go for drinks and food, shopping at Safeway...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We just wanted to clarify that all of our hotels rooms only have Queen size beds, not King, but they do all have our signature Mountain Feather Bedding, which may make them seem that much bigger and the most comfortable.

“We enjoyed our stay here !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This was our first time at this hotel - just a cheap night away from Calgary so our boys could go ski at Sunshine and we could go browse the shops and have dinner out. We got one room for ourselves and one for the guys. The price was very reasonable and I really liked that a full hot buffet breakfast was also part of the cost of the room. The chef made us a great omelot and we enjoyed fresh fruit salad, yogurt and bagels, bacon, etc. They even had mini pancakes as well and could barely keep up with filling the pancake container. It wasn't too busy that morning even though it was Saturday, maybe everyone slept in from busy ski days. Anyways, it was a nice breakfast which we enjoyed downstairs in the hotel. At least it wasn't in a small crowded room like some hotels I've been to for their free breakfast. It was at tables in their regular dining room. A great waitress always came by to ensure we had full hot coffee refills and even always kept our orange juice filled as well. Great Service !
We had 2 queen beds in our room and very spacious. Everything was great, bedding and bathrooms were clean. Our balcony lining probably could be replaced since it did look kinda rundown - but thats ok. Maybe they can replace that in the summer. At least the hotel was reasonable for a getaway to Banff and we didn't have to run out for breakfast.
I liked that fact also, it was very close to Safeway and walking distance to all the shops downtown. It was cold that weekend, so it nice we didn't have to walk blocks away and could just get back to the hotel in a jiffy. They had a hot tub downstairs, but it was full when we took a quick peek so we decided to just relax in our rooms. We enjoyed ourselves and will book here again when we wish to hang out in Banff !
