I stayed at the Monte Carlo in January for business. All I needed was a clean place to sleep as I arrived late and checked out early. The room suited that purpose just fine.
The bed was comfortable with soft sheets. The bathroom was very basic with minimal toiletries. The towels were small and not very soft, there is definately room for improvement there. It also had a small functional hairdryer.
The room had a desk and chair but no armchair for reading although it did have a hard pull-out couch in a separate seating area with a tv.
The big negative for this room was the security. As a female traveling alone I was not happy to see the door only came with the card locking mechanism. In the past I have had hotel staff (not at this hotel) walk into my room in error and I have had other guests attempt to enter (hopefully in error too). I feel more secure when I can use a lock mechanism from the inside of the room, but unfortunately this was not available at this hotel.
The room was rather noisy too. Either the plumbing or heating system had pipes in the ceiling that made alot of racket throughout the night.
The hotel offered a complementary breakfast in their restaurant which was very very basic. Cereal, toast, coffee, sweets. I prefer eggs of some sort but made do with toast and coffee.
Ok for a night but I wouldn't recommend for relaxation or a special occassion.
