Very nice day staff. It was very busy, but they had extra staff so there was very little waiting for extras. We had the room right at the end of the hallway so it was quiet despite 3 hockey teams staying there.
Issues I have with this place is that when coming in the front door, there is a lot of stale smoke smell because they don't do anything to enforce their own rules regarding distance from the doorway for smokers. Even after I mentioned it, nothing changed. ***IF YOU POST THE RULE LIKE YOU DO, THEN HAVE THE GUTS TO ENFORCE IT! I DO NOT WANT TO BREATH OTHER'S SMOKE!!!The night girl seems to have a chip on her shoulder. I accidentally locked myself and my dog out and she was very cold about me getting a spare and acted like my dog was a bother, but she certainly didn't take long grabbing the $5 tip I gave her for her 'trouble' and then did it without so much as a thank you. As I said though, the day staff is very nice. While I was using the lobby computer after midnight, there were two young ladies, who were not customers, acting up, swearing, making unnecessary noise and going into the hallways 'looking for the hockey players'. I brought this to the attention of the night clerk who KNEW they were there. She rudely said "I don't know if they were invited or not." I said it doesn't matter because they had no business making noise at that time of the night and no business being allowed to hang around the hotel if not customers." That got me a dirty look and then she just stood there staring at me and refusing to do anything about them. She needs to take her feet off the desk and do her job as it seemed no matter who went up to the desk they had to wait until she felt like getting up. Another issue was with the front entrance that constantly had the door propped open with the rug. I believe it was so the staff could slip out for a smoke. There's a video camera watching the area but I guess nobody is monitoring it. Since my room was at that end, at night this propped door allowed wind along the floor which I felt under my door, as well as removing my level of safety.
Overall, it's an ok place to stay and would be a LOT better if the issues I mentioned were taken care of.
