“Pleasant and relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

After traveling for house from Toronto, we discovered our confirmed booking at a hotel was "forgotten" and our room given to other travellers.
We urgently had to find another space, and found Jacques and Sylvie's hotel. They were so friendly and kind and we felt right at home when we arrived.
The entire property is beautiful and well restored so it set the mood for visiting the Old City.
The breakfast was wonderful, and our hosts were gracious.
The rooms are unfortunately not very comfortable for relaxing in, and bathroom has to be shared. Although there was a bath, they do not provide a bath plug forcing you to shower. It seems these are all efforts to manage costs.
If you want early coffee you have to wait as there is none provided except at breakfast time.
It would be nice if they can create a bit more of relaxation space as no-one wants to just stay in their rooms. A little coffee machine with some cups and some relaxation space would make a big difference, in particular as there are no coffee shops in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the sea (it has more light). Bring bath plugs if you want to bath.

Hello Nomad 1966A, you will be happy to know we have now only 3 rooms and 3 PRIVATE bathrooms, the renovation had been done in féb, 2012 and we are now only in private bathroom,
then only 6 people can be in the Hayden's in the same time, and the living room is available before breakfast time. best regards, ( our web site will be update soon)

“Top B&B Makes a Great Stay”

We decided to book this B&B due to good reviews pointed here. As usual, we could not find something different.

Jacques and Sylvie host their guest in a superbe manner with all kind of finesse. All e-mails were promptly responded we felt very comfortable. No errors, no misunderstandings.

The house is located about 10 - 15 minutes walking from Petit Champlain St., a well-known too-touristy alley and just behind Cap Diamant. Bus stops are right out of door. If you decide to get a taxi to reach it, be advised to have the address or a map in hand. It may be helpful.
There are only 4 rooms in the house, what means you’ll probably have a more intimate place, mainly if the house is not fully booked. All the rooms are immaculate and spacious. Bed and pillows were awesomely confortable. Also, there are 2 spotlessly clean shared bathrooms very well equipped.

Breaksfast is daily served at 8.30 in the living room downstairs among other guest. Sylvie and Jaqcues stimulate the guests to share their experience, making this time a joyful moment. By the way, Sylvie and Jacques cook and prepare the breakfast. If you dislike something, make them know it.

This is absolutely a place to rest and enjoy some days off, to meet people and to get closer to the typical old Quebecoise way of living.

Room Tip: Strangely the Pink Room (facing the hill) has wi-fi signal lack.

“Clean, Good Locale, but Not So Much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

Nice breakfast, although it is served only at 8:30 and the living quarters are locked until that point. Guests who are up earlier have the option of hanging out in their small rooms, or in the tiny parlor area upstairs, or in the stairwell that leads to the first floor. Really? For those who are very budget minded, this may be an acceptable option. For those looking for R&R at their leisure, not so much.

“Great stay at the Hayden's Wexford House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Stayed with Sylvie and Jacques at the end of August.
Jacques is a great host and Sylvie is a great example of how people in Quebec are, friendly, warm and hospitable.

The B&B is not right in the middle of Old Montreal, so be prepared to walk about 10-15 minutes from the edge of the Old City. But thanks to that I was able to sleep like a log.
Breakfasts are sharp at 8:30. If you'd rather sleep in or go out... just let Jacques know. If you "parle francais", try it. It will be greatly appreciated.

Cleanliness and order reign in the home and sharing a bathroom was never an issue as the B&B was not full when I was there.

Old Quebec is a dream and if you enjoy walking... Hayden's Wexford is the place for you.

The house is really old but very well kept. So just don't expect to stay in a super modern B&B but be prepared to experience life in the Old Quebec style.

Room Tip: Stayed at room #1. The double bed was great!

“We spent four nights and would go back anytime. Thank you!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

This big and beautiful, old, historic house offers 4 appropriatel decorated and comfortable bedrooms and two spacious bathrooms completely equipped with all modern necessities. The dining room where breakfast is served at a big table feels like one has stepped back in time. The breakfasts were magnificent and ample - differed every day with items like eggs benedict, crepes with pear and maple syrup, French toast with pecan and maple, fresh fruit, organic wheat bread. Jacques and Sylvie were gracious hosts, serving every need, including carrying our baggage up to our room. Rue Champlain is a typical old Quebec Street which feels like a neighbourhood. Close enough to walk to cafes, historic sites and shops in the old city, it is also easy to walk along the sidewalks beside the St. Lawrence River.
