Our reason to stay at the Iriarte Jauregia Hotel was to use it as a base camp to make day trips to the nearby cities such as Bilbao, San Sebastian and Hondarribia. What we found was a really beautiful hotel in picturesque surroundings. Our room was very clean and comfortable; breakfast was delicious and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. For those drivers who appreciate twisty mountain roads, you'll love the ten kilometers in either direction to the hotel.

The hotel is really superb. We stayed with our sons (5 and 9) in this hotel, which is a lovely place, a very good point to travel and see the rest of the region, has a very good kitchen and for all very friendly and helpfull staff. My compliments.
The hotel has a great garden and also below in the village (300-400 meters walk) a very nice playground and football field, where we played every night a football match, got a drink in the bar of the hotel afterwords followed by a very nice dinner..................

This hotel is beautiful, and in such a surprise setting, the surrounding views are amazing. That said, be prepared to have a 40min drive to San Sebastian from the hotel.
The room we had was absolutely beautiful, 5* quality, and we ate in the restaurant two nights and had lovely meals both nights.
The service was mixed, our check in was fine, but not overly welcoming, and when we asked this same staff member for recommendations later in our stay, we didn't receive much help. However, the restaurant waiter and the person we had for check out were both fantastic and very helpful.
All in all, a beautiful place to relax and soak up the scenery. Oh, and breakfasts are super too!

We spent two nights here in July 2011 and absolutely loved it. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. The renovation kept all the rusticity and charm of the 17th century building while perfectly melding the ultramodern amenities. Breakfast was lovely too. I recommend you take your second cup of coffee and head out to one of the several patio areas with the breathtaking views.
