having recently stopped at the Cliffs hotel nearby this hotel was definately a step or two up. the hotel was clean , bright and pleasant surroundings meant that myself and my mother felt at home. the food was really good and the head waiter JAMES ensured that all guests were entertained as they ate.the downsides were that the room that we stopped in was extremely noisy. my mother is deaf and even having taken her hearing aids out was disturbed by the noise. there were loud bangs and we could hear a child screaming next door. i myself was disturbed by the constant movement of the people in the room upstairs. upon departure i explained about the noise problem and they said that i should have mentioned it beforehand and they would have tried to move us to another room. the entertainment in the evening was slightly disappointing as the room used was the dining room after dinner had finished and just seemed like a make shift room that lacked atmosphere and wasn't very well attended.all in all though a return visit to the DORIC is highly likely.
