“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel twice. The first time we were on the top floor right outside the airconditioning which was very noisy. However, we were so tired from all the sightseeing, and the bed was so comfortable, we had a good night's sleep anyway.

The second time we stayed we were upgraded to a junior suite which was amazing. The room was large as was the bathroom. There were tea and coffee making facilities which after a long day was most welcome.

There was a large selection of hot and cold food for breakfast and the restaurant staff were freindly.

The location was excellent, very close to Hyde Park. There are two tube stations nearby. My advice would be to use the Gloucester Road Station rather than Kensington High Street. Its a quicker walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor room.

“Good location and good sized room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was very clean and the rooms were a good size. Short walk from museums, park and tubes. Comfy massive bed and I thought it was a fairly quiet location for London (not much in the way of road noise...)

Would definitely stay there again. Good value for money :)

“Lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Stayed here two nights, lovely room with lots of space, nice breakfast, good location for travelling to go sightseeing and right next to the Royal Albert Hall to stay overnight after a concert. Opposite the park for taking a walk on a sunny afternoon - I'd stay here again!

“Great location !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

We stayed at this hotel with my family (two kids 10 & 14) in the family room at the back (room E I think). This is quiet and isolated from the rest of the hotel and is very nice. The only issues were the plumbing and the creaking floorboards as mentioned in other reviews. This was only really a problem because for 4 out of 5 mornings we were there, we had a noisy family above who woke up at 6am and showered, causing significant noise as a result.

But the location is just perfect. The museums are literally just around the corner, the walk to the tube is very easy and accessible even with luggage (from Gloucester Road which is less than 10min walk). The neighbourhood is great with many nice restaurants and cafes in walking distance (both a few minutes and a little further off). Kensington Gardens is just across the street etc etc.

The hotel staff were polite and very helpful, and the rooms were clean and well kept. The price was reasonable for a family room in London at such a location.

With the exception of the plumbing and floorboard noise, our stay was great ! I definitely recommend this hotel.

“Splendid - perfect for Royal Albert Hall & High Street Kensington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights - primarily because of it's location to Royal Albert Hall (we had an incredible evening at Prom Praise on 2nd April). Have been to London a number of times but this was brilliant - gave us a different view of London entirely - Kensington to be exact. The spring bulbs and blossoms were a sight to behold.....

The hotel is classic, oldish but seemed in pretty good condition. We found nothing to complain about - our room was ready even though we arrived early in the morning, long before normal 2 pm check in time. It was a big room, facing the main street - but it was not noisy at all. The bed was a King size bed, and grand styling. Bathroom great and everything always clean. This was more than a home-from-home. We had the breakfast on 2 mornings - this was great and no complaints - other than we had to pay extra for this (not included in the price). We managed to book this on a 'special' paying GBP115 per night (for a double). The normal price was about GBP149 - which would have been too much. Staff very pleasant. The proximity to Kensington High street brilliant, walking distance, and also to Queen's Gate end of Kensington Gardens, Kensington Palace (the Enchanted Princesses exhibition great), Hyde Park, St Pauls Onslow Square, Holy Trinity Brompton, Imperial Science museum and Natural History museum, etc.
