Stayed here overnight on business. Very simple rooms with minimal furniture, the wardrobe was hooks on the wall! Bed was comfortable but room too basic. Evening bar / breakfast room had the appearence and layout of a "works canteen" though the food was quite pleasent. Ok for a one night stay for business or for the airport, but wouldn't stay any longer.
Watch out for the additional parking charges!

My wife & I stayed at the Ramada on the 28th December 2012 as we had an early flight out of Birmingham airport the following morning. We found this hotel perfect for the overnight stay prior to flying, and the food was good there too.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has a morning flight out of Birmingham as you avoid the traffic chaos & stress of actually getting to the airport on the day of travelling.

I stayed at the Ramada on the 21st December with my two young sons, aged 4 and 7, as I had a flight out of Birmingham airport the morning after. Due to circumstances at the airport I missed my flight that day and had no qualms whatsoever about going back and staying at this hotel for another night. It is literally a 5 minute walk with your luggage to the train station, Birmingham International, which has a monorail link (which my boys loved) direct to the departures at the airport - easy.
For the price I paid for a room, @£60, you really couldnt complain about this place, conversely, I would say its better than more expensive places I've stayed due to the following:

Location - great location for the airport, taxi just not needed unless you are much older or infirm and dont want to wheel your luggage any distance

Cleanliness - our room was spotless

Room - functional but spacious enough for us, beds comfortable, plenty of pillows, great shower, tv & tea making facilities

Most Importantly, the Staff - I found everyone at the hotel very polite, accomodating and really just a very helpful & pleasant bunch. I think I managed a quick few words with nearly all of them who were genrally interested in the welfare of the two boys & where we were going for Xmas. They made my stay a pleasant one and just want to add that they are a credit to their city.

We have stopped at the Ramada Encore now on two occasions and find this hotel perfect for the overnight stay prior to flying from Birmingham, had it not been for other commitments we would have also stopped on our return journey as we did not land until late in the evening. The hotel room is clean and tidy although slightly on the small side but adequate for an overnight stay. If you fancy a walk, which I would recommend to get your bearings for your departure to the airport the following day, turn right when leaving the hotel walking through the industrial estate and go either by the stairs or if you are with cases you would prefer to take the lift into the NEC where you find yourself at the NEC train station. There you will see a monorail which is free and takes only two or three minutes into the airport. The monorail does not run between the hours of 2.00-4.00 am This would not be ideal for anybody who is elderly or not reasonably fit as the walk takes approximately ten minutes. At the airport I would recommend Wetherspoons for a pint and a reasonable meal at sensible prices. The reception does provide a map although it is not really required. A taxi if it was raining approximately £5.
The Hotel and 8 days parking with the car remaining on site was booked online with Holiday Extras.

Downfalls:
A little difficult to find the Hotel.
People leaving for the airport, so occasionally banging of doors.
The restaurant meals are poor value for money.
