Our night at Bonsyde was bizarre. The price listed online was 54 GBP, a great value, but at the front desk it was 80. When we asked about the discrepancy the manager said that we could have it for the lower rate, but that he only had one room available (was this true? I am not sure) that was being renovated. Despite being full up, we only ever saw two other guests, and the silence in the dining room was deafening.
With that taken into consideration, it wasn't bad. The decor isn't fussy, and the room was large and well-furnished. The bathroom (being renovated) would have been bad - small and very cramped - without the renovations, which was new tile being put in the shower. It certainly needed it - the mildew was everywhere. It was pretty gross.
The location is the best part - it is out in the country so it is very quiet, but it has VERY easy access to the airport without having to stay in town, so it met our needs very well. It had wireless internet that was quite fast, a nice change of pace from other places we had stayed, and the room itself really was quite good.
All in all, it was a weird place. No other guests in sight, way out in the middle of nowhere, a car salesman-like manager, discrepant pricing, but despite all this, I have to say that the room was comfortable enough and the location was good enough that we would stay here again. We will ask to see the bathroom first, though, and we will check online for the "price."
