“Lovely part of Galway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Just back from a short break in the Ardilaun Hotel. It was the best value available in Galway that I could uncover. The staff were brilliant. We had dinner the evening we arrived and the food was very good. The rooms were really comfortable and spacious. The leisure facilities are very good. The grounds are lovely and it is a really nice part of the city and it's only a short taxi ride to city centre or Salthill.

“Fine family room - poor breakfast - overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I chose this hotel for a brief stop over on the way through Galway for the family on perceived quality grounds.

The room was spacious and worked ok for us - bed arrangements a little weird with 3 single beds and a very small double. At the price paid (Euro 140 B&B) I would have expected in room wifi for free.

Main let down was breakfast - ordinary to poor - hot plate buffet and limited cold plate with yellowing cheese and crusty ham. I asked for an omelette but was told that this wasnt on the menu - I observed that this was a shame and the waitress came back 5 minutes later to say they would do me one but not to show anyone else ... I already had my buffet breakfast so declined.

Dear 'JMHGlobetrotter',

Thank you for choosing to stay with us recently.

While we are very grateful to you for having taken the time to post your review following your stay with us, we are disappointed to read some of the comments. Guest experience at The Ardilaun is very important to us and all feedback is very welcomed.

I am sorry that you seem to have experienced a problem with the use of wifi during your stay with us. I can confirm that wifi is available to all guests throughout the hotel and is on a complimentary basis. Our staff are always available when guests require assistance with access to wifi.

The family room which was assigned to you has indeed 3 single beds in it. The double which is in the room is a standard double bed. Unfortunately, we do not have a king size or queen size bed in this room.

Your comments in relation to breakfast dining have specifically been brought to the attention of our kitchen and dining room staff. I would like to sincerely apologise to you for the customer service which you received during breakfast and give you my personal assurance that this is certainly not the norm. Although omelettes do not appear on our menu, we are always happy to provide when we can do so. The reason for this is that they are made to order and when our hotel is busiest time does not always allow for such orders. On the morning in question, the dining room staff member (who is no longer a member of staff here) did not provide you with our usual level of customer service and, again, I sincerely apologise. I can assure you that this would not re-occur.

Should you be so kind as to stay with us again, we would be very happy to welcome you. We hope that you would consider booking with us again should you be in Galway.

Thank you again for booking with us and for your feedback.

Best Regards,
The Ardilaun Team

“For business and pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I was in the Ardilaun for 3 nights running a course for work colleagues. This was a residential course including dinner each evening and a light lunch. Facilities were excellent. Staff were supberb. Everyone commented on the quality of the food on offer each evening. I would highly recommend this hotel for similar events. I also think it would be an ideal destination for pleasure. It's in a quiet location surrounded by lovely gardens and is very close to the centre of Galway- taxi cost €6. The leisure centre is one of the best I've experienced.Lastly any hotel were the proprietor deals directly with you and other guests is very impressive!

Room Tip: Try for the rooms in the newer wing of the hotel.

Stayed friday night last. Was given an upgrade to executive room which was lovely, a huge bed and very comfy. Ate in the Bistro, very good deal for 3 courses and a drink. Food was lovely. It was a really cold day so didn't use the pool. Staff were lovely and we really enjoyed our first stay in The Ardilaun. We will go back.

“Wonderful Wedding Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

people found this review helpful

The Ardilaun was our venue for our wedding reception, and from start to finish they were wonderful and catered for everything we wanted and had great ideas of things that we might want.
On the day the staff were fantastic every single one, and every guest at our wedding said the same, they couldn't believe how great the food was, how fast the service was and that the hotel itself was fabulous.

Great comfortable rooms, super room service also. A lot of people went for breakfast towards the end of service and all commented on how great the breakfast was, still so fresh and the staff were still aiming to help in any way they could.

There is a fantastic gym, pool and beauty area in the hotel, it is very close to Salthill and a short drive into Galway city.

Will definitely return.
