4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

stayed at the victoria hotel three weeks ago for two nights friday night and saturday night.
the room was clean and comfortable the bathroom spotless. the only fault i could find was the door it didnt seem very secure, it rattled when the door was closed. the staff were very helpfull and pleasent in all we had a very nice stay and would return there again at was also very reasonably priced.

“Could be better, could be worst”

Stayed for two night with my partner during the week. Hotel quiet (which was good as it meant we slept well). Check in was quick, but the girl sat down on her chair the whole time, reaching over to hand us the key. Plus dont thinks she likes people very much, as she was stern and rude!!
Room nice size for the two of us (got room 401, which must have been popular as i over heard two other people request this room during the stay!!) Only down side to the rooms is that they could do with being a bit more modern (we are in 2012 now!!)
We didnt eat here as they dont serve food during the week, which i found strange and very 'hostel' like. The bar opened in the evening, Quiet but was nice. Service good (the lad on the bar very good with us)
Great location as most bars and restaurants on there doorstep.
Check out quick, and very professional. The young lad on reception knows how to treat his guest and was the only person to actually ask how how stay was and to wish us a good day throughout our time there. Plus he wasnt sat down whilst interacting with us (if only he checked us in, we would have felt more at ease staying there!)

All in all a good little spot, but management (if there is any as only saw bar and reception staff) needs to sort out there staffs customer service skills (especially the girls on reception).

Room Tip: Do go there for the location Dont go if looking for a romantic night away!

“Great if you're going out in Galway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Great location right in the city centre. There was a big group of us there for a big night out so it was perfect for that.

The staff at reception were really cold and unhelpful. You could tell they didn't want to be there. The hotel is dated, the rooms have keys, tiny TVs, old fashioned bathrooms, and are really cold (that suited us though, hate overheated hotels). The windows are a bit dodgy too. The bed though was very comfy and clean, and the room really spacious and clean.

The staff in the bar though, even at 4am, and faced with a loud (but harmless) group were very friendly and patient. The bar is really good fun and nice too. The reception area and restaurant are also fine.

Breakfast wasn't worth getting up for. There was a full Irish, but it was made with the cheapest ingredients, the staff were slow, and the continental was also very cheap....they had tinned fruit and no fresh, I didn't even know you could still buy tinned fruit! Still, it set us up for the day and helped get over the hangover!!

This hotel is perfect if you are on a big night out in Galway and want somewhere central and functional to stay. If you are in Galway to tour or sightsee, I'd advise staying in one of the lovely B&Bs on the outskirts, which you will get for a cheaper price, and a lot more personal service and attention (and better breakfast!).

“dodgy door knobs, but great place.”

i stayed here on the 2nd of jan 2012 for one night with my friend and our kids. this hotel is n great location and everything u need is all around us. our room was very spacious, warm and clean, and a nice large telly. for a galway city hotel i thought the traffic and noise would keep us awake at night, but we didnt hear a thing. the girls at recption are very friendly and cant do enough to help. they let us call in for a chineese take away, and gave us plates drinks and stuff. breakfast was great in the morning, great selection of fruit and juice for the kids, and a lovely fry up for us. just one little complaint was the door knobs, tooks us 15min to open the door. its tricky enuf. but it wont put me off comming back again. great place.
