This is a hotel for people who like a bit of old charm. With a beautiful lit fireplace upon arrival. Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights and found the staff to be most helpful in everyway from the moment of arrival until the moment we left. Breakfast was amazing with a wide selection. Location was fantastic and overal a great experience

“conference”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I stayed recently at the Hotel Meyrick with members of my family for a conference. We had three rooms booked. Two of the rooms were extremely small; you couldn't swing a cat in them, and decor was very dated in all rooms. I had booked a suite which was a decent size, but of course cost a good deal extra, and decor in this room was not good either. Sound proofing was abysmal, we could hear the people snoring in the next room. Location of hotel however is excellent.
The restaurant at the hotel was great; food delicious and service very good too.
However, when we decided to stay an extra night at the hotel, despite deals being advertised online
about staying two nights and getting the third night free, we had to pay full price for the third night for each room. This was despite eating at the restaurant every night and using the spa. There is a lot of competition among hotels in Galway. We will certainly not be staying at this hotel again because they do not seem to be concerned about their customers returning for another visit.Despite relaying our concerns to the manager, we received no reply.Do not expect that your custom will be appreciated at this hotel. They are living in a time warp.

Room Tip: Suites are a decent size but will be noisy, sound proofing is not good at this hotel.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at the Hotel Meyrick. We thank you for your kind comments in regards to our restaurant and the service you received here.

In regards to the bedrooms, your original stay was booked for a conference you were participating at, hence the rate quoted. When you wished to extend your stay we did offer you the best rate available as the Conference rate was not applicable to this date. In regards to the bedrooms, we are disappointed to hear your comments, as I believe during your stay you spoke with at least two managers and never addressed these issues. I know the hotel was very busy with conference delegates, had we been able to move you to alternate rooms we would have gladly done so, yet this comments have since been relayed to the Accommodation Manager to address.

So although we appreciate all feedback and take it in a constructive manner we do also feel that some of these comments are unfair to those involved in trying to ensure your stay was a pleasant one.

Kind Regards
Hotel Meyrick

“beautiful place to stay”

myself and my partner went to galway for the weekend. We stayed in the Meyrick Hotel in Galway. It was a fantastic weekend. We arrived early and they minded our bags allowing us to enjoy Galway straight away. When we arrived back to the hotel our bags had been brought to our room. The Hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are lovely double king size beds. The bathrooms were spotless with fantastic hot water at all times during the day and the water pressure was amazing. there was a grand piano in the lobby and each day someone played beautiful music on it which created a relaxing atmosphere. There were beaufiful open fires in the hotel which provided warmth and a lovely smell. The hotel bar is beautifully decorated with excellent bar staff. The staff in this hotel are excellent, very pleasent, polite and helpful. The breakfast was only amazing.
The hotel was also at a fantastic price and completely central to all of galways facillities so no taxie or bus requirer. The only downside for me was the hotel did not have a pool and the Canadian hot tub stiutated on the roof always had lots of people in it so i could not avail of this.
In the main, it was very pleasent and would definitly stay in this hotel again and again. I loved it.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the rooms on the old side of the building as the extension rooms do not have a nice v...

“Great but a bit dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband. Staff so friendly and helpful. Valet parking an excellent service. First room we were allocated was very dated, small with old chipped furniture. However we were moved to a much larger, nicer room overlooking eyre square. Brilliant location. Would recommend this hotel.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed in the meyrick last september the 4th, bang in the middle of the city centre, bought the car with us but did'nt see it till leaving on the sunday. Used the spa facility also, found it to be very comfortable, with lovely view as its on the top floor. We stayed in a suite overlooking eyre square, even with the bustle of a city centre outside found the room quite and had a great nights sleep. This is old school luxury in a modern setting. The only crib i have is that i did'nt get offered tea or eggs with my breakfast the following morning as we were kinda seated and forgotten about. Otherwise perfect.

Room Tip: Try get a room facing onto eyre square.
