The hotel is understaffed and as a consequence we queued for 30 minutes to check in. The rooms were tiny and very overpriced. The key card stopped working twice and had to be replaced (once in the middle of the night!). The next morning breakfast was tired, dry, we were given no information about what else was available and waited 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted coffee and toast. All in all it was poor and not what I'd expect from a mercure.

Very comfortable bed with views of surrounding buildings, hills beyond and the Wheel of Manchester. Even more great views from the restaurant where we had a very enjoyable breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Manchester.

Room tip: The higher up the building the more extensive the view...

I stayed here with my family this weekend and not only is the hotel in an ideal location in Manchester city centre but the staff were very friendly, the rooms were excellent, the food was amazing and I can't wait to go back for the hotel alone. the views from the room was lovely (across the city) wifi throughout, several channels on the TV, comfy beds and a powerful shower!
it's rare to find a large car park at the hotel's front door...can not fault this hotel. I highly recommend it.

Room tip: 14 floor was where we stayed....beautiful room

Hotel location in the heart of the City is superb.
Although the room was on the small side , it was furnished with many amenties , it had everything most people would expect , tea and coffee , ironing board, and hairdryer for the ladies, qiuet air conditioning and a great comfy bed.

The hotel is very ugly and has a peculiar lay out with reception on the second floor. The room was tired, scruffy and dated. It was probably clean, but because the carpet was stained and the décor old and chipped it looked dirty. The day reception staff were very helpful but the night reception who checked me is was patronising and slightly rude. The contact telephone number for the hotel is a premium rate number which says it all - you have to pay to speak to them.
The room cost over £150 a night for mid week without breakfast which I think was poor value for money as it felt like I was staying in an old seedy motel. The sound insulation was very poor and I could hear the occupants of neighbouring rooms as clearly as if they had been in the room with me. I would never stay in a Mercure Hotel ever again after this - Avoid unless desperate.

Room tip: Stay away at all costs
