“We didn't want to leave.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

A week in the gite at the Logis du Bief in July you would hope would consist of lazy meals and drinks on the lovely terrace overlooking the river to the quiet public park on the other side while feeding yesterday's baguette to the ducks. It was on occasion a bit like that but, unfortunately, we had the week with several days of rain so even the outdoor theatre was cancelled each night. But, what better place to be at such a time, than in your own lovely and comfortable apartment where you can lounge with books and cook your own meals in the well equiped kitchen, taking advantage of the breaks in the weather to wander through the lovely town of Loches and visit the chateau or to go further afield. Loches is a perfect centre for visiting much of the Loire valley. A 30 minute journey takes you to many of the towns and chateaux that you would want to visit whilst staying in a relatively quiet area of the region. Jean Claude and Moha couldn't have been more welcoming, always ready for a chat and advice on where, and where not, to go, but not in any way intrusive. It really was a home from home and we concur with all the positive reviews previously listed regarding the property and also regarding the nearby Boulongerie. We didn't want to leave and we hope to return.

“Just delightful!”

We stayed in the gite which is immediately next door to the chambre d'hote. The location is truly delightful with the living room opening straight on to a terrace outside overlooking the calm and peaceful river. We spent many a happy hour with glass in hand on the additional mini terrace, a foot or two above the river surface, feeding the almost tame fish and moorhen chicks.
The interior of the gite is stylish, elegant and very comfortable.
The truly exceptional thing about the gite is the quality of the welcome from Jean Claude and Moha. They are truly charming hosts - attentive without imposing in any way. The gite felt very much like our own home for the week.
Loches itself is an attractive town with some nice cafes and fine buildings. It is not at all overrun with tourism and we probably preferred it to all the usual Loire valley alternatives as a place to be.

“A beautiful place in a beautiful place”

We just returned from a 5 night stay in the gite (rental apartment) at Le Logis du Bief. The three of us (me, my 13 year old daughter, and my 9 year old son) had a great time and the apartment suited us perfectly. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twins. The bath upstairs has a tub and a shower, and the added bonus of a washing machine! Very handy. The downstairs bath has a toilet and a wash basin. The kitchen is adequately appointed with everything you need to cook. There is a beautiful terrace with a perfect view of the river. The boulangerie just down the street has the best croissants ever, and a creperie within walking distance serves excellent food at good prices. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The apartment is beautifully furnished. The car park is very close and the town is so beautiful! Our stay could not have been better.

“Great hospitality - charming city”

Le Logis du Bief was a 3-night stay that we wished we had booked for a week! The accommodations were spacious, graciously appointed and impeccably clean. Our hosts were helpful and delightful to visit with - referring us to excellent restaurants with some of the best food that we ate in France. The pear tart with gingerbread ice cream will never be forgotten. The B & B breakfast on the terrace next to the canal was pure relaxation. All of the guests enjoyed each other's company, exactly the type of atmosphere we were seeking.

“standard equal to any 5 star hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of June. Loches is an interesting place to visit plenty to do and see. The B&B was amazing, high quality antiques in our room ( the Agnes Sorrel), the balcony with seating was a bonus, although we weren't allowed to drink wine there, fully understandable with white furnishings ! The hosts were really welcoming, making us tea on the patio on our second day when we returned hot and tired ! The breakfasts were special, local cherries from the market, and as we all sat around a big table a relaxed and friendly way to start the day.
The standard in this B&B is equal to any 5 star hotel we have stayed in, robes, soft towels and lovely little touches in the bathroom. Exquisite furnishings, a real quality place.
Don't miss it !
