Let me start by saying the location of this hotel is really great... It's in the middle of the city center, close to shopping, bars, clubs and local attractions such as the Dom Cathedral.
Also the rooms are really clean, but to say they give you a five star feeling: For sure they don't...
Then the bad part: Service in this hotel was absolutely the worst I received in a hotel in Europe in a long time, especially a 5* hotel. Upon check in was not greeted at all, just a shout out "next". The lady at reception just gave me a form, said "fill out and sign", and that was about the entire "Welcome" I received upon checking in.
The other issue happened in the middle of the night, coming home from clubbing. My friend who stayed in the room with me, was refused to enter the hotel, cause the keycard he had, was not for the room number he told the receptionist we were actually staying in. The receptionist then entered our room, to check out with us, and to check his ID. I understand this is for security reasons, but because of a dumb mistake the receptionist made upon check in, I think I shouldn't be responsible.
Talked the next morning with Manager on Duty, who gave me the standard answer that this shouldn't have happened, and that she will discuss this with the person in charge of this.
Then the breakfast, again not WOW. When I asked for coffee, was pointed to a coffee machine and should get it myself.
Maybe these seem like little issues, but these are the issues that make a hotel 5* worthy. This hotel for sure doesn't. For the same price better stay at the Excelsior Ernst or Dom Hotel once it opens again.
