My partner and I have stayed at the Aquamarin seven or eight times over the last seven years. We find it to be very clean and comfortable, and the staff from cleaners to reception both kind and helpful. Food in the restaurant is very good, with the buffet breakfast excellent as is evening dinner. We would certainly recommend the Aquamarin and hopefully we will stay there again in the not too distant future. We would also recommend when you are staying at the Aquamarin to visit the small bar the Red Lion just 100 meters round the corner.

The hotel is not in a good shape, but the service from the staff is ecxellent. The rooms are not so big with a little desk for computer and reading, and there is a tv-desk with flatscreen tv with a lot of free channels and some pay-tv too. The bathroom is very small, but have the nessery things like bath, toilet, zink and hairdryer. The hotel is located in a living area with not so clean surroundings and there is a bit of a walk (Approx. 4 km.) in to the center of Lübeck. But the buss stops just outside the hotel and the staff is helpful with information about which buss to take both ways. You can also park for free at the hotel but in the city it costs money almost around the clock. The breakfast buffet was a below average, but you can get what is needed. There is free wireless internet connection in the room (T-mobile hotspot cards is given to you in reception).
All together the hotel is old and not in good shape, but the staff is wonderfull and service good.

Let's say the positive first. The location is excellent with good bus connections to central Lubeck where parking would be a nightmare. The hotel gives you a useful bus timetable. The rooms are clean. The idea of a self catering bed sit in a town like Lubeck with wonderful food stores is sensible and attractive.
However, these plusses did not make up for the disadvantages. We felt as welcome as in a traditional old fashioned British provincial hotel. The breakfast coffee was awful and we agree with the other reviewer that the coffee shop round the corner is much better. The staff at breakfast were to put it mildly impatient.
The spare bed for the room was unbelievable (see picture). Over the night it sloped downhill and sleep was impossible due to the springs digging into the sleeper. The hotel is not recommended to others.

Hotell was good exept for a strange smell in the room and very bad beds, booking a double room You don´t expect two single beds whith a wooden board between them!
Smell can be becourse of that they welcome pets?
Breakfast was nice but not hot like stated.
Location close to the city centre and shopping is good.

Best Western have the stupid policie that You can't earn points on their bonusprogram GCC then booking anywere else than direcly from BW or the hotel. (Think most people book thru agent)

Alltogether We will not use any BW hotel again and cancel our BW booking in New York next spring.
