“Too far from Trastevere. No Wifi as stated. Accused of theft.”

Yea, you can tell this wasn't my favorite stop. After so many amazing stays in Italy, it was a sad thing to end on this one. The website states that it is in Trastevere, but I don't think so. It is a few miles down the road (away from the city center). Trastevere itself is magical, quaint, full of evening life. When I go back, I will stay in that neighborhood.

Back to Vacanze... The website said wifi, yet I stayed for 4 days and wifi never worked. That was a real problem and so I had to go to a local pizzeria to get wifi, which was about 1 mile away. There aren't many restaurants or things to do near this place.

The website has an English version and is near perfect in grammar. However, the gentleman who was onsite couldn't speak a word. That struck me as deceptive and was problematic.

On the last day, that same man accused me of stealing a towel (I gathered through gestures). That was truly insulting as the towels are small, threadbare rags that don't serve their purpose, not to mention I don't steal. He was ridiculous and I hope my opinion of him came through clearly in our argument.

"Continental Breakfast" was terrible. It consisted of 2 packages of the equivalent of Hostess Donuts and a harsh cup of coffee. Sad and pathetic.

The rooms front on a larger road next to a bus stop, so expect noise to be your neighbor as you try to sleep or take a nap.

No laundry service as the site website claims. His "service" was to give me a flyer for a laundromat about 1 mile away. Nice. Not.

“Enjoyable & comfortable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I was happy that my room and the house was very clean and tidy. It had a feeling of home in it, not the usual feeling of 'putting up a night in a hotel'. The area is peaceful and relatively quiet compared to central Rome, as it is in the suburbs of Trastevere (which happens to be a charming part of the city). I really would like to thank the host, Gianfranco for his hospitality, the good breakfast conversations, and his tips for getting around.

“Friendly, clean, very comfortable and genuinely friendly staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2009

The owner, Gianfranco and his assistant, Ovidio, could not have been more welcoming if they had invited us into their own home! The rooms were of a good size and very clean. As a partially disabled person, the quality of the beds are usually a problem for me - but not on this occasion. The location, in Trastevere, was ideal. One can walk into Rome centre, get a train or a tram or bus. The area has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within easy distance. Although on the main road, noise was not a problem - which is unusual in Rome! Perhaps the only drawback is the shared bathroom, but only three rooms had use of each bathroom, so not too bad. I shall certainly recommend this place and use it again myself.

“Really looked after us”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2009

Stayed at this guest house for 4 nights on recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. Gianfranco and Ovidio really bent over backwards to make me and more importantly, my mother, feel at home and welcome, supplying mother with endless cups of tea and coffee on request and providing a really homely atmosphere.
Rooms are pristine and beds are comfortable, same goes for the bathroom, and free Wi-Fi was a nice surprise. The location is really quite good even if it's not smack bang in the centre (Rome's centre is hugethough), just a few minutes from Trastevere Station and the tram leading up to the other side of the river, for the price per night this place is great. The owner is a real modern hotelier, unlike many others in Italy!
