If you are a tourist in Rome and all you really need is at place to store your luggage and sleep, In Parione is the place for you! It's clean, it's not expensive, and the location is absolutely PERFECT! If you are looking for excellent service, a great breakfast and an impressive hotel, In Parione is NOT for you. You have to take it for what it is - a perfect place to stay the night.

There are so many things to see and do in Rome - so many options - so my advise to you would be: don't waste your time (and money) on a hotel.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel on our Honeymoon in September 2006. It sounds like we stayed in the same room as the reviewer from San Diego. High heels were clomping above us at all hours of the night; construction RIGHT outside our room door began every morning at 8am; other guests yelling at each other in the middle of the night; front desk clerk recommending overpriced restaurants.
My wife stayed at their sister Hotel the previous year and was much happier. We will not stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Hotel in Parione (it is now called dependance Hotel Smeraldo). This hotel is in an ideal location. We walked everywhere - the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Roman Forum, etc. Great bakery downstairs. Excellent rate for a superb location. Room is small but clean and up to date. Perfect hotel for guests that plan to sightsee all day. If you plan to spend any considerable time in your room, I would not recommend this hotel as space is tight. But you can't beat the price or the location!

This hotel is in the perfect location, within walking distance to lots of the main attractions and close to all the action around Campo de Fiori. The room and bathroom are pretty basic, but we didn't spend a lot of time there, so didn't care. The only complaint is that there was building work going on in the hotel or just next door, which started at 8am on the Monday morning-slightly early for us! Other than that, it was perfectly adequate for us and I would recommend it to people looking for a cheap hotel in a great location.
