“good rooms and location, value for money”

This B&B is located in a narrow street, very near the railway and bus station. The street is narrow but clean and safe. When you enter the B&B, you have to climb a lot of stairs. There is 1 long staircase, which takes you straight up to the B&B. Giovanni will help you with your luggage. There are 4 rooms, and they are nicely decorated. The building is old but has been beautifully renovated by the owners. Because it is old, the walls are thick and so they can do without airco. They do have ceiling fans which provide a nice breeze without being noisy.
Beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. Breakfast is nice and fresh, and there is plenty to eat. The owners, Giovannni and Alessandra, are very helpful and will give you all the information you need to know and useful tips about Genova and surroundings, in good English!
The city center (Via Garibaldi, where the museums are) and old harbour can be reached on foot, expect a 20-25 min walk. You can also take the bus.
A nice trip by train is to go to Nervi. It takes about 10-15 min by train. You can swim in the sea there and eat at one of the restaurants overlooking te sea.

“Friendly owners with amazing advice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

If you want to experience a truly welcoming time in Genoa then there is no better place to stay than Il Borgo di Genova. Alessandria is a true wonder and went to endless lengths to make our time well spent. She came to collect us from the train station (after we got lost), gave advice for restaurants (all turning out to be great) and top tips of where to visit. The whole place was immaculate, bathroom spotless and the breakfast was agreeable.

The B&B is a little out of the centre but we enjoyed the walk into town and we were next to the train station so transport was very easy.

A very pleasant stay and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

“A city break with a difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Liguria - and Genoa in particular - isn't quite as familiar to the British as many parts of Italy and yet it's now only around 100 minutes flying time from London. Arriving in Genoa at the start of a 9 day holiday we opted for 2 nights at Il Borgo di Genova to break the onward journey. We couldn't have done better. The accommodation is a new conversion in an old part of the city and has been exceptionally well thought out. Decoration. furnishings, even the overhead fan in the bedroom was tasteful and efficient. Add the fact that it's just around 5 minutes walk from the Station at Brignole with its direct Volabus link to the airport and it becomes a very handy location. A constant stream of city buses (at Italian not sky high British bus fares) virtually pass the end of the street and the town centre link will become even easier once the pedestrian tunnel from Brignole is restored. However the thing that really makes Il Borgo di Genova so special is the attention paid to guests. Alessandra and Giovanni are real ambassadors for their city. Maps, guides, travel tips, restaurants - all the inside information you need to maximise a short visit to a new place - is yours for the asking. As a result we saw more in just two days than even we had planned to and ended up wishing we'd booked a longer stay.
Alessandra makes the point that its rail and transport links make Genoa an ideal base from which to explore the wider Ligurian region as well as day trips to Milan, the Cinque Terre or the rural isolation of Lombardy. So all in all - an ideal base for a city break with a difference.

“Excellent Bed & Breakfast; great location; nice owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

5 minutes walk from the Stazione Brignole train station. Only potential drawback for some people are the stairs to the 2nd/3rd floor without elevator. Charming. Owners helpful with tips and advice. Breakfast is standard minimal, nothing special. Very clean. No A/C, but the ceiling fan works great.
