“Lovely quiet location with all the comforts of a home”

Five of us stayed here in December and we had a lovely time here. The entrance to the reception is quite beautiful with the pretty lights. The ladies were very helpful with all our questions and gave us great recommendations for restaurants. The atmosphere of the place is like a retreat where we can go back to after a long day of walking around. It takes about 10 minutes with luggage to walk to the place, and you have to cross 2-3 bridges, but there are signs along the way so it is quite easy to find. A few restaurants, take away places, and a grocery store nearby, which made it a very convenient place to stay.

“charming, welcoming, well placed and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Great place for a trip to Venice outside of peak seasons. Very good value.
The staff/owners were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful
For those that have been around hotels in venice, those two qualities can be hard to come by!
The hotel is a nice area, within walking distance of San Marco (20mins), close to Gran Canal and vaporetto stops, and also within reach of areas perhaps more alive at night or with locals.

The junior suite with altana terrasse is worth the extra even in winter -it has some cachet and charm. Impeccably clean, very roomy, sofa area, nice views from the terrasse. Carpet a bit too bland for my taste and a bath tub would have been a plus.
The building itself is a nicely done up building, with a small but beautifully restored old courtyeard. It is not a massive palazzo, but has a charm of its own.

Room Tip: The room under the old roof beams and with the terrasses are nice.

“Tranquility in the 'Serenissima'”

Very warm welcome when we arrived at the hotel. Staff very helpful with maps and advice about restaurants and public transport. The hotel was within easy reach of the station and the Rialto. Our room was a delight, spacious with an adjoining 'sitting room' area. As it was the topmost room access was via two flights of stairs, which would have to be considered if one had any significant disability. Pleasant breakfast room with a good spectrum of food. The hotel was wonderfully clean and very quiet. Having stayed in Venice many times over the last 50 years I am sure we have found the haven to which we will come back to again and again..........and again! I have no reservations, an ideal spot for seeing the sights and for exploring the lesser known parts of Venice.

“Nice hotel a bit off the beaten path (and yet close to it all)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We stayed at the Ca' San Giorgio Hotel in early June of 2011. Our group consisted of a family of 4 (children ages 8 and 10) and we had a junior suite. Our room was one floor up from the reception desk which was about half a floor above the main street. The bathroom was very large and appeared to be recently updated. Our room was directly across from the breakfast dining room. This hotel was by far the largest room we had of all the hotel stays during our trip. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night at this hotel and we regretted not being there longer. The room was clean and the staff was very nice. The breakfast was typical for a European breakfast. The hotel is a bit of a walk away from the main sights near Piazza San Marco but that helped keep the cost down a bit. We would highly recommend this hotel.

“Nice Location, Very Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

The B&B was a very good base for our stay in Venice. It's located on a nice street in a quiet neighborhood in Santa Croce away from all of the hubbub but still within easy walking distance of most sights, as well as some fun restaurants and lovely campi. The Grand Canal and some pretty views along it from a small dock next to the Fondaco dei Turchi is about 100 feet away.

We stayed in a double superior room on the third level of the building. The climb up the stairs wasn't an issue for us, but people who have difficulty with stairs might want to reserve a room on a lower level.

The room itself was spacious and generally in good shape but not quite as plush as we had expected. That said, nice features (aside from the spaciousness) included a beamed ceiling, a skylight, an extra twin bed, and a small sitting area. The bathroom was adequate but relatively small.

Breakfast was very good -- a full buffet of breads, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, juices, etc. -- and was served in a very nice and quiet room overlooking a small side canal. Service there (for fresh brewed coffee or tea) was very attentive.

We made good use of the B&B's library -- the owners let us borrow a guidebook for our walks around town. Also, the owners themselves were very helpful and drew very clear walking routes on the complimentary (and very handy) pocket-sized city maps given to all guests.

If you're willing to stay in this quiet part of Santa Croce, not in the middle of everything but within easy walking distance of many restaurants, lovely campi, churches, and other sights, then we'd suggest you give Ca San Giorgio a try.
