“Perfection in Cortona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here for a glorious week on our European honeymoon. What an amazing hotel. The location is perfect, the setting beautiful and the food is to die for. The Wimpole family (Alessandra, Damien and Adriana) who own and run the Villa, took amazing care of us and were incredibly hospitable. Knowing it was our honeymoon, they put us in a seperate lodging guranteeing privacy and provided a complimentary bottle of Italian sparkling!

Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. We were given a private tour of the grounds, gardens, hotel, wine cellar and the kitchen where they hold Italian cooking classes (A must as the Chef, Gabriella, is amazing!).

The food was fantastic and fresh, from the sumptuous buffet breakfast to the delicous alfresco dinners.

If you want to stay in not only the best in Cortona, but one of the most lovely, relaxed and picturesque retreats in Italy, look no futher.

“Umbria at its finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

My wife and I came across this amazing hotel in order to locate near Cortona.Little did we know of the Villa's place in history dating from the 1400's and yet so full of modern day conveniences. The once magnificent hunting lodge owned by the Cardinal of Cortona maintains its regal splendor through today. the attentive staff and, indeed, even the owner work to provide an unforgettable experience. the complimentary buffet breakfast and the five-star alfresco dining by the garden were magical. the location is prime for exploring the hillside villages which beckon daily romantic outings. All said, this was a divine way to complete our second honeymoon!

“Unbelievable charm, beauty, and history combined”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011 via mobile

This intimate luxury hotel has it all! We were wowed by our upgraded accomdations and the brakfast and dinners were the finest we were served bar none. The owner took us on an insider's tour of this ageless wonder complete with tales of the Cardinal of Cotona, the convent conversion and the Nazi field headquarters. We loved the location and truly would rate this simply "the best."

The hotel staff were excellent. The room and meals at the hotel were wonderful. We took a Tuscan cooking class that was great.

“An unforgettable experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Our group of 26 family and friends stayed at Villa di Piazzano to celebrate our wedding in May 2011. The genuine warmth, generosity and attention to detail by all of the staff, and the quality of the facilities and food was exceptional.

After five months to reflect on our time at the Villa, all of us are only left wishing we had stayed longer, infact some of our group are making plans to return.

The breakfasts were to die for, the service at every meal outstanding, and Gabriella’s Tiramisu was superb not to mention the wine selection and the ambiance at the Villa simply perfect.

The plans for our wedding went without a hitch and this was entirely due to the amazing support shown us by the staff, particularly Allessandra, Ruth and Damien.

As an example of the generosity; when our interpreter advised at short notice that she was unable to attend, it was Damien who insisted he could step in to interpret the ceremony. He brought great style to the occasion!

There are 124 reviews that have rated this complex highly and we would like to be the 125th.

This is one truly stunning establishment in every sense and we will return one day to celebrate an anniversary of what was a truly unforgettable experience.
