I chose this B&B because of its location in the hills above Florence as I knew it would be hot and humid in town. When you arrive, the impressive Villa really makes you feel you have reached a beautiful and tasteful home in Tuscany. Guidetta is a charming and warm hostess who does her utmost to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, she a has a great sense of humour and endless patience.
Our rooms were very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, and wonderfully cool thanks to the aircon. Fresh towels supplied each day and fresh bed linen every 3rd day. All rooms, except room 5, have lovely views over the rolling hills, villas and olive groves. We did find the beds to be very firm, but obviously this is a personal choice, and certainly did not detract from a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The continental breakfast offers you a good choice with endless cups of coffee or tea.
Getting to and from Florence is about a 30-40 minute steep walk or 10 minutes on the 38B bus which stops outside the B&B, but only runs every 2 or so hours. There is another bus (12 or 13) but this is a fair walk from the B&B. We ended up using taxis (as my husband has knee problems) and the cost to Santa Maria Nouvella station is Euro 16 (add Euro2 for each suitcase).
We tried two of the recommended restaurants, one being Omero which is 2 minutes from the B&B. It has magnificent views and sublime food, somewhat expensive, but for a special meal worth it. We also tried Crespino Ray (about a 20 minute walk) and we did not enjoy this venue or the food.
We would definitely return to this upmarket and charming B&B and highly recommend it.
Room Tip: Only room 5 seems to be without a view, but it is very nicely decorated and comfortable.
