Palazzo Ravizza is just outside the old city central area. The pretty garden, where they serve breakfast, looks over a beautiful Tuscany valley. Our bedroom in the tower was basic but light and spacious, with a good bathroom and a magnificent view. We found the staff quite helpful, for example someone spent half an hour helping me print out boarding passes, and the public rooms and garden were very pleasant.

Sadly, we were disappointed with the breakfasts. The only cold meat was rather greasy salami, there was one kind of cheese, odd flavourless cereals, poor coffee, and the bowls of “fresh” fruit and tomatoes usually contained a few items either well past it or not properly ripe.

On the plus side was the hotel’s position: superb views from the garden and (some) bedrooms, and a few minutes’ walk from Il Campo in the centre of town.

Room tip: Rooms facing the garden and the valley have superb views.

This Hotel is just off the busy section of the old city center. There is a wonderful garden area out back with a beautiful view of the countryside. Great front desk help! Make sure you stop in across the street for a coffee. Fantastic locally owned Bar.

Room tip: View out back is wonderful

We returned to Palazzo Ravizzo for 3 nights to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I love all of Tuscany, but Siena is my favorite--reminds me a great deal of Texas in terms of fierce civic pride manifested through competition. As last time, we arrived just before the July Palio. The Campo was already filled with soil and stadium seats ready to be unfurled along with the contrade banners. The Ravizza is situated near the Campo and just inside the city walls, yet it also has parking which is a rare gift in the walled cities of Tuscany. The back garden has a view of the Crete Senese and much comfortable seating for lounging, reading or just taking in the incredible view. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are evocative of both Tuscan style and the period style of the palazzo's origin. Molto bella.

We stayed here for 5 nights in August 2015, it is much better than its 3 star rating suggests. Helpful friendly staff, beautiful enclosed garden with stunning views of the Tuscan countryside, and clean well-appointed rooms. We booked a garden view room and were upgraded to a suite with a large bathroom and jacuzzi.
No restaurant, but no need as there are so many good places to eat within walking distance, and the staff will recommend somewhere for you, we tried a couple of recommended places - they were excellent. Breakfast is simple continental style, but relaxed and as much as you can eat, food very fresh.
Air con in rooms a bit noisy, but that was not a problem. The hotel has a lot of history and is very elegant with antique furniture. We would definitely stay here again.

Room tip: ask for a garden view

The Ravizzo is a pensione accommodation, so the value was quite good. After a bit of trouble finding it, we were very pleased with the property and our room. The garden area is very peaceful and has that old European feel to it. The views of the countryside from the garden are beautiful, and it is a pleasure to sit and have coffee and breakfast in this setting in the morning. There are also a few rooms in the lobby area where guests can gather to talk or play games. The hotel provides bar service. Our room was bright and clean and well equipped with storage. The shower was large, and separate from the bathroom. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. This pensione is a gem and in a fantastic location. I would highly recommend it!
DOWNSIDES, IF ANY (a new feature on my reviews): The room was on the small size, and the bed was the hardest of the hotels we stayed during our two-week trip - a bit painful for my hips. The bed covering was a down comforter, which we often get in Europe and which always make me sweat during the night. The bathroom does not have much space to put anything, the bidet taking up some prime real estate in there.
The breakfast did not include any hot items like eggs or sausage.
