“A wonderful canal side B&B, I can't wait to go back”

Me and my partner are in our twenties and it was our first time staying at the Misc. and therefore we didn't know what to expect. Before our stay the owners emailed us several times to keep us updated about our reservation and to make sure we got the room we wanted.

When we arrived, I was so pleasantly surprised, it has such a cosy atmosphere - especially with the addition of Rue, the cat who sat drinking his water from a martini glass on the bar!

The room was lovely, with a mini fridge that was replenished for free everyday.
The view on to the canal was beautiful and peaceful, I was never concious of any noise from the street and I slept well!

The whole place is very stylish and I was overwhelmed by the breakfast! There was no rush to have it at a ridiculously early hour, and there was such a lovely range of things to eat- from fresh bread and jams, to ham and cheese, muesli, yoghurts, and even an option of bacon and eggs cooked up if you wanted them! It really set us up for the day.

The location is very good, right in the centre! Very close to the railway station, the shops and the restaurants.

The staff were lovely, offering us an umbrella when it as raining out side - amongst other things.

I really want to stay again! I can't wait to book my next trip to Amsterdam!

Highly recommend!

Room Tip: I'm sure they are all lovely, we stayed in the Rembrandt room!

“Homy little B&B in city centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I got 3 emails from the owner BEFORE staying in their hotel. 1 confirmation, then i wrote back asking about parking facility, they gave a extensive email answer regarding the whole transport system in Amsterdam, and at last they sent me a re-confirmation email about my reservation. This gesture let me feel their warm welcome before going to Amsterdam.
Rachel greeted us with big smile, and the hudsome black lad helped us with the luggage (sorry didn't catch his name). We stayed in the designer room, 1st floor, canel view. 2 singles push together, about 1.6m wide, not perfect, but ok. The room is not big, simple-designed. A squished but lovely shower room with basin, and a seperate toilet. The radiator works fine (amsterdam was -10 degree when we were there!). No A.C, don't know if the summer gets hot...
The free mini bar is abslutely great! 2 mini cokes+2 light coke+2 fanta 2 apple juice+2 orange juice, 2 BEER! 1 bag of crisps, 1 bag cinnamon rolls. All FREE! The Nespresso machine is a nice upgrade from a kettle where most hotel put as "coffee/tea making facility" several sorts of tea bags, 6 capsules of coffee.
The stairs is steep indeed, not unusal in the country.
Breakfast serves until 12, which is really good for late people like us :) We had scremble eggs and bacon, nice!
Location is perfect, close to the red light district, the Dam, etc, but it's a relatively quiet neiborghood.

Will recommend this place to everyone! The service and location rule all!

Room Tip: canel view is louder, garden view is bigger

“Book it. You won't be disappointed.”

I travel a lot for my job. In the last three months, I've been home only 14 days. So believe me when I tell you that this hotel is truly something special. I was referred by a friend who lives in Amsterdam. Apart from the brilliant central location, clean rooms with excellent beds and fast and free WiFi, what sets misc eat drink sleep apart from its competitors is the kind attention of the proprietors. A few things that helped make my stay special included a friendly email a few days before my arrival giving clear directions to the hotel, the free snacks in the room (beer, soda, chocolate and chips) and a friendly resident cat to snuggle with. If you prefer anonymity and same-same, this is not the hotel for you. The stairs are indeed steep and every room is different. But if you're someone who wants to really experience the city you're visiting, you won't be disappointed. My only hesitation in recommending this hotel to you is that it might become so overwhelmingly popular that I wouldn't be able to book a return visit.

“Canal House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We had a really wonderful experience staying here. Lovely canal house with really steep narrow stairs (thank goodness we didn't have to lug our luggage up those stairs). Loved the location, centrally for the main attractions and only a few minutes walk from the railway station. It is right next to Chinatown and Red Light District but we found it quite safe and walked everywhere. Room has all the amenities, coffee, tea, and a small fridge stocked with Heineken, pop and goodies (chips, chocolate bars). This was lovely after a day of tramping around town. Breakfast was wonderful as were the hosts, Rachel and Pepjin.

Room Tip: Get one of the canal rooms. It is wonderful to look out and see the canals and all the traffic goin...

“Another fabulous stay at Misceatdrinksleep!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

This was our 2nd stay and it was just as good as we remembered - the only thing missing was beautiful Prue the cat (bless).
We stayed in the Wonders room (Design room last time). Both rooms were very comfortable and stocked with goodies.
Pepjin's restaurant recommendations were 1st class and Rachel's Glühwein was a taste sensation!
We'll be back...Jools and Col

Room Tip: The garden rooms are quieter at night than the canal rooms.
