“WOW!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

This hotel was really great. We were given a room upgrade for no apparent reason - yeah! Walked in to our room and were instantly captivated by the view of the harbor and city.
Room was large - bathroom was huge by European standards. (Large enough to do some laundry and have it all dry by the next morning on the heated racks). Ate in the restaurant - didn't have a reservation which seemed the host did not like, but were seated quickly. Food was very good and service quick and efficient
Breakfast was incredible - many choices, quality food, beautiful view. Most days we just had breakfast in the hotel and paid for one other meal for the whole day. The canal boats dock just across from the hotel - buy a one or two day pass and travel in style. About seven minute walk to the main train station to catch buses and trains to everywhere. This was the nicest hotel we've found yet in Europe!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the train station - I believe it's the west side.

“The perfect choice of hotel as part of a mini-cruise”

The Movenpick provided an excellent choice of stay as part of the Hull-Amsterdam mini-cruise. The hotel is splendidly located at the waterside, with panoramic views across the city. It is a straightforward easy ten minute stroll to and from the central station.
The welcome and friendliness of staff is characterised by giving you what you need and not being seen to make a big effort. The whole experience is an effortless glide from bar to restaurant to room! The leisure facilities are simply first rate. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and accompanied by a huge bathroom, which is more like a salon.
Don't think twice - stay here!

“Movenpick is Modern and Very Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

Was allotted this hotel on a Superbreak mini-cruise from Hull - Rotterdam and it was very good value for money.
Not quite city centre but the tram are every few minutes and its two stops to the hotel on line 26 (remember to buy your pre-paid swipe card for the trams at the white building in front of Central Station).
Check in was a bit long because the receptionist had mis-read our name and given us somebody else's room but it was soon fixed.
We had a rather bleak view (the weather was awful) of the train and tram lines but we were only staying one night so we kept it. The room is very good and the TV had cable and all the UK channels you need. Bathroom lovely. The fridge is empty so its handy if you want to store food/drinks. Safe, ironing board, iron all there and the whole place is well kept and very clean.
The only downside was a chubby surly chap on the concierge desk but his colleagues were charming. Did not try the bar or restaurant and the shop has strange hours; perhaps because its out of season. Very good trendy gift shop next door with some very good Danish and Dutch designers rather than the usual clog and windmill tat.

Room Tip: Ask for a city and water view rather than the inland/traintrack views if you are staying for more th...

“Excellent stay”

Recently spent 3 nights and 4 days at this hotel and it could not be faulted. All the staff were all friendly, efficient and couldn't be more helpful. We had an early flight in and a late flight home but there was no problem storing the luggage. The room had space for a bath, but instead had a large walk-in shower. We didn't realise baths were available until I started writing this review. Therefore, if you want a room with a bath, you will have to request it! The breakfast was excellent and if you get the chance, get one of the Movenpick yoghurts, they were great (they didn't have them on the last day). We had a meal in the restaurant on the 2nd floor and the food, albeit a tad expensive, was excellent. For 2 of the other nights we ate at the bar on the ground floor. The food was good, but a little cheaper. The waste to the wash basin in the room got blocked one afternoon. We reported it on the way out and by the time we had got back (3 hours) it had been sorted. The Concierge arranged for a taxi (electric car) back to the airport which was cheaper than the one we took from the airport at the start of the break. May be best to email or ring the hotel to arrange? We tended to walk everywhere, but on a couple of occasions we took the shuttle bus which drops off behind the central station. To be honest, it doesn't take long to walk that distance, but when the wind coming off the river is biting, it's most welcome.

Room Tip: We were on the 11th floor overlooking the harbour which I feel is the best side and about the right...

“Very good Amsterdam hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

We stayed at the Moevenpick this month and I would recommend it to other travellers. It's a one stop, short tram ride away from the city centre and central rail station. Our room was lovely and large for the 3 of us with an excellent bath and shower, probably one of the most spacious rooms we have ever had. The sofa bed wasn't made up as promised for our daughter when we were told it would be but a quick phone call put that to rights as well as requesting tea bags and milk which didn't seem to be routinely stocked sufficiently. The buffet breakfasts were excellent!
