“Perfect location and hospitality”

I don't think we could have picked a more perfect place to stay in Athens. Not only was Ava perfectly located in the Plaka (lovely area of Athens with winding streets, alleys and shops all amongst ancient sights) with a view of The Acropolis from the front door, the staff was lovely and perfectly accommodating. Our little suite was ideal, with a kitchenette and ample room and a super comfortable bed and strong, hot shower. The first evening I ordered us champagne and fruit as a lovely start to the weekend, and the fruit was so varied and numerous that it lasted us the entire weekend for breakfast and snacks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Athens. While the cost is on the higher end (for Athens), the location and ability to have breakfast in the room and prepare snacks for day trips more than made up for the price.

“A lovely hotel in Athens.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

We just spent three nights at the AVA Hotel. It is a lovely, small hotel close to the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus. The suite and hotel are very clean and the staff are friendly and gave us great restaurant recommendations.

Room Tip: Our room faced the street side but was quiet.

“Their ranking as #1 is more than well deserved”

Stayed at AVA hotel for three nights in June of 2011. Had booked a suite to acommodate our family of four. Booked directly with the hotel and they were very prompt and straightforward during the entire process. May not be remembering the names correctly but think Mr Karafotias was the manger. All other hotel staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. Suite was quite spacious and very well appointed. The bed in the main bedroom was one of the MOST comfortable among dozens of good hotels we have stayed in over the years. Hotel is located on a side street ( with some but not heavy vehicular traffic) but the room was completely sound proof with no traffic noise to disturb sleep. Our suite was on the street side with a nice balcony and very good views of the Acropolis to one side and Hadrian's Arch and Temple of Zeus to the other side. Bathroom was equally good. BF served in the morning has ample variety and of good quality and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend BF inclusive reservation. Hotel is located in Plaka area, itself one of the main tourist attraction, and most of other main attractions are within easy walking distance. Acropolis is 5-10 minutes away and so is the new Acropolis Museum, truly a world class museum( few months later while in London and visiting British Museum, was really surprised to see the quality and quantity of exhibits in the Parthenon gallery there). Syntagma Squire is about 20-25 minutes. About the only main attraction for which one would need transport is The National Archaeological Museum, which in my opinion is a must see. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance in Plaka. Mr Karafotias, knowingly guided me away from some of the tourist traps I had in mind and made reservations for us on the rooftop terrace at Elaia. We had a very enjoyable dinner under a beautiful summer sky and illuminate view of Acropolis later in the evening. Had one of the best calamari( Greeks dont serve it with Marinara sauce though). Grilled fish was great too. We went back for dinner a second time. We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay. Hotels ranking as Number 1 is more than well deserved. Keep up the good work Mgmt and staff; it is appreciated by your many many guests.

Room Tip: Suites on street side offer views of Acropolis

“The Place to Stay in Athens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

From booking to checkout they were excellent.
We decided to stop in Athens for a couple of days during our trip to Greece.
The location cannot be beat...a view of the Hadrian Arch AND the Acropolis from our balcony...really?
The property: secure, clean, spacious, and quiet.
The hosts: helpful, friendly, respectful and fun.
They deserve any positive rating they get.
We will be back.
One last thing: keep your eye out for the personalized details to remind you of home...that is all we will say...don't want to spoil it ;)

Thank you Ava Hotel Management and the entire Staff.

Room Tip: Grab an executive suite...worth every penny!

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights based on trip advisor ratings. Was not let down. Staff were just wonderful - always helpful and friendly. Greeted us with an upgrade to Acropolis view room and a bottle of champagne in our room - a very pleasant surprise after a long trip. Wonderfully located - close to all major attractions and the metro. The room was magnificent - very modern and spacious. A welcome change after travelling through Italy and staying in gawdy, outdated rooms. The other great thing is their range of free blu-ray DVD's to relax and watch in your room at night after a long day in busy athens. My wife is a movie buff and absolutely loved this added touch. Finally, it is about 5 minutes walk from the BEST food in Athens (trust me, I am greek and I lived in AThens for 3 months, i know good authentic greek food)....Smile Cafe. Smile is on Syngrou just around the corner from the hotel and is the BEST.......enjoy!
