Really enjoyed our one night stay at the Saga Hotel. It is in a quiet, leafy area near a lovely sculpture park, the royal gardens, and great restaurants. Totally quiet, luxurious room. Service was great, too.

This is a fine hotel for a visit to Oslo. The neighborhood is quiet, but convenient. When the whether is nice, the 10-minute walk through the grounds of the Royal Palace is a pleasant way to reach the city center. (It's uphill coming back, but you can take the tram, which stops a hundred yards or so from the hotel.) Frogner Park is only five minutes by foot. Breakfast is very good and the staff is helpful. Surprisingly, the air conditioning was a real plus!
I always stay here when I am on business trips to our Oslo office. The rooms are nice, the staff is super friendly and everyone speaks fluent English. Nothing to complain about here. The hotel is quite central, since Oslo is not that big. Some nice, but expensive restaurants in walking distance.
In the part of Oslo called the west side, the "better" side of town.
A bit from public transportation.
Old, I mean not renovated for years, rooms.
Service as you would expect from a small hotel, nothing more than that.
Great hotel next oslo's center in a nice neighborhood, very quiet. The tramway's station is at 200 m from the hotel or you walk down 10 min to the royal palace. The breafast is good and various. I choose the same for the next trip in Oslo.
We spent a night in this hotel and liked
- good location, about 10 minutes walk through the king's gardens to the center of the city.
- free parking in the street (we were even able to park a camper/rv in front of the hotel)
- good breakfast (though the breakfast room is underground)
- friendly, helpful reception
- good size room/bathroom
I would go for a room on the 2nd floor (or higher), the first floor is just a bit above street level.
