“Third time and its getting better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We have stayed at the Waldick Hotel on three occasions since 2008 to coincide with the Peel Carnival. We had a back view room previously so this time we asked for one of the three sea view rooms (10) which was huge with a corner bubble bath as well as the usual furniture and a third single bed if three need to share.
The hotel has been brightened up since we were there in 2009 and being the last house on the promenade, its very quiet but with great views of the harbour and sea front. Our group used four rooms and all were very happy with their accomodation. The hotel was warm on a windy and cool day.
The breakfasts comprise juices, yogurts and cereals folowed by a substancial cooked choice that includes full English as well as omelets and pancakes.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if you really want to get the best out of your stay.

“Very Pleased with our stay”

We walked the Isle of Man coastal path in June and although we only stayed one night we found the place clean, well equipped, helpful staff and the breakfast was very good. We had been told that the Waldrick had a poor reputation and it should be avoided. This is not the case.

This was the fist time i had been to Peel and The Waldick. What a delight it was as well.
The view from our top floor room was superb, well worth the effort of the stairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room lovely and comfortable, like being at home!only we didn,t do the cleaning!!! The breakfast was a delight and set us up for the day.
I will definitely be returning and recommend this hotel to anyone.
A well deserved congratulations to all at the hotel, richly deserved..
Hope they allow pets?

“Good location but very dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

I see that others have scored this hotel highly (which is why we chose to stay there) so maybe the room we occupied was more scruffy and dated than others. In terms of position we couldn't fault it - the hotel is right on the promenade and we had the first floor front room with superb panoramic views.

The main drawback was that none of the windows opened - the frames had been painted over presumably to stop the wood disintegrating. This was a nuisance as the room and bedding smelt musty and slightly smoky and there was no way we could let fresh air in. I know this problem doesn't apply to all rooms as we saw other rooms had windows open, and those at the back appear to have newer uPVC framed variety.

Bathroom fittings were very old and scruffy, and the bedroom carpet was badly stained. Door fitted very badly and rattled whenever someone slammed another bedroom door on the same floor. A good point was that the shower curtain and towels looked new; also there was a large modern TV.

Breakfast was standard B&B cooked fare, with the welcome additonal option of kippers.

The hotel aside, Peel was the best place we stayed on the Isle of Man - very picturesque and without the numerous empty properties that are found in other towns on the island. Prices for eating out were more reasonable than elsewhere on IoM, and we had an excellent meal at the Marine pub.

“Great breakfast ste you up for the day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

My friend and I spent 4 days at the Waldick and found it quite comfortable. A front room would have been nice and the 43 steps to our room tested us after living in a bungalow, but the room was spacious, with flat screen tv, tea, decaf coffee, biscuits etc, radio alarm, hairdryer, shoe cleaner!, shampoo, shower gel and soap and towels.
The breakfast choice was extensive with orange or apple juice, grapefruit segments, prunes, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, egg, baked beans or kippers if available. Toast, butter, orange or lime marmalade, strawberry or raspberry jam, lemon curd or honey and tea or coffee. They even obliged with a very early breakfast on our day of departure. Parking was free and right outside the door.
Cash or cheque is the only payment. The only problem was communication on booking and trying to contact via the telephone call our messages never received an answer leaving us wondering if we actually had a booking. Zara was most obliging and pleasant.
The island is a fantastic place to visit but the only problem is finding a decent place to eat and at a reasonable price and this applies to the whole of the island. If you love ice cream you must try Davisons ice cream.
I would definately stay here again
