After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor I booked to stay at this hotel, expecting to see the same lovely hotel shown in the photos. We were incredibly disappointed as soon as we arrived. Our room (for which we paid over 120 euros a night) was dark and tiny. The bathroom was also tiny with an inadequate shower and cheap plastic fittings. The towels were threadbare and the bed was hard. The swimming pool was overlooked by a partially completed building at the back and also an ancient concrete pumping truck parked at the side. The cushions on the sofas next to the pool were stained and it was noisy due to building work. There was an old sink sitting next to the stairs leading to the pool and it wasn't an area where we wanted to spend any time.The view from our room was poor. Breakfast was OK but very limited and whilst Newton, who seemed to be the sole employee at the hotel was friendly enough, the owner wasn't at all friendly and nor was his wife. No other food was available and the TV only had a handful of Italian channels (with poor reception). We couldn't wait to leave and are really surprised that it has ever received any positive reviews as it's over priced and untidy. Please see our attached photos as evidence.

This was our third visit to Lipari and on each occasion we have stayed at a different hotel.

2006 Grand Hotel Arciduca; small room and pool area, not enough sun beds, good breakfast
2009 Hotel Aktea; great room and bathroom, excellent pool, however now overpriced

2011 Hotel Villa De Pasquale:
We spent a portion of our trip to Southern Italy in Lipari and decided to try this hotel, however we were hugely disappointed.

The room was quite small but was neat and tidy. The bathroom is ok, however the shower is tiny. The TV only had limited Italian channels and no English channels. The bed was quite uncomfortable (hard) and the rooms were extremely noisy. We could hear noises from the rooms next door, anybody talking at reception and within the hall way - not relaxing.

The pool area was nice with a good size pool and enough sun beds with a nice view, although shared with the owner and his grand daughter which felt quite awkward.

The breakfast was poor, with very limited choice and limited quantity.

Overall we felt like we were staying at a strangers house and therefore never felt comfortable at this hotel, if anything we felt quite awkward staying here. The owner's assistant Newton was nice and helpful and did try his best but this was not enough.

I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

One tip, if you want to take a chance at staying at this hotel I would recommend booking as late as possible. During our stay the rates dropped by 60 euro per day from the time we booked (which was a month before), I guess due to supply and demand.

We spent one night in Lipari during our trip in Sicily. It is difficult to judge this hotel in comparison to general quality on the Island.

This one was clean, convenient, although not in a charming location (even if quite close to the old city).

Globally, it was really ok but we found it quite expensive for an "ok hotel".

We had to find a place to sty afer and etremely disappointing house we have booked and turned down. The owner was extremelly helpful .He picked us up from the port and helped us find a great restaurant where he personaly drove us back and forth. The rooms are extremely clean and well furnished. The swimming pool was good size and also very clean.
