“Best stay in Ireland!”

I loved Ballinsheen House from the minute we pulled up. It is on a hill just outside of town, so the view was pretty. The innkeeper has a beautiful yard and everything was well maintained. We were greeted and welcomed and shown our room. I loved the room! It was one of the few spacious rooms on our trip. There was a queen sized bed and room for a sitting area with 3 windows overlooking a beautiful garden/backyard. This was probably the only time my husband and I felt like we could stretch out on the whole trip.

Breakfast we was standard, but very good and the dining area looks onto the backyard as well. There is a nice reading area to enjoy books in and just space. The home has a very open floor plan. The innkeeper was accommodating and nice even though we didn't really get to know her since we only stayed one night.

“The perfect touch of everything...and help getting our flat tire fixed to boot!”

We were just sad we didn't spend more time there. We arrived late at night, after getting a flat tire just as we were arriving in Lisdoonvarna. Mary was so gracious to wait up for us and didn't seem put out at all. The next morning, she helped us contact the local mechanic in town who then made a house call to Ballinsheen House, took our flat tire and brought back a new one all within 30 minutes. How's that for incredible service in Lisdoon! Mary's house was beautifully and artfully decorated with just the right touch of everything a traveler could want, with a delicious meal for breakfast. We'd go back anytime!

“mom and me on the road”

My mom and I traveled around Ireland for two weeks staying in B & Bs. This was an excellent choice for us as we stayed two nights in each locations.
Ballinsheen House was beautiful and easy access to downtown. We used it as a jumping point for visiting the Cliffs of Mohr and the Burren.
Mary was a great hostess and helped us in choosing where to eat and how to visit sights. We loved the gardens and sun room. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was ideal and delicious!
Thanks so much for making our visit special!!

“What a beauty”

This is a beautiful B&B, situated on lush grounds. The owner, Mary, was a wonderful hostess. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, as was the whole house and the gardens were beautiful. There was ample parking. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed a special treat of hot croissants one morning. The town was conveniently within a few minutes walking distance.

“Nice place to stay in Lisdoonvarna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

We thought the hostess, Mary, was very friendly but didn't freely offer any info/advice on the area. The house was nice - well furnished, nice guest areas including a sitting room with lots of books and a lounge with a TV and stack of DVDs. The gardens were beautiful, Todd the dog was a sweetie. We stayed 3 nights and our main complaint was that we hit our limit on hard, uncomfortable, springs poking you in the back beds.

Lisdoonvarna is a nice little town, great home base to explore the Burren - best activity there is the Hawk Walk at the Burren Bird of Prey Center at Aillwee Caves. Flying Harris Hawks was AWESOME!
