Beautiful grounds, nice staff, JP at the bar made a great Long Island Ice Tea. HOWEVER, in the first room the shower valve broke while taking a shower the first night with a 3/4 inch line fully open almost flooded the the room. We were upgraded to deluxe room. Waited an hour for the new key, went to call and phone did not work, it was unplugged. I went to plug in and the electrical plug was broken and off the wall I tried to plug in and wire came out, arced sending sparks across the room. Took better part of two days to get it fixed. I asked to speak to a manager but it was a Sunday and the only manager was not there, he owner was there but he would not deal with it. The next day the manager spoke to me, looked at the "fix" and agreed it was bad. She offered a comp diner. She asked what we wanted. I told her we will be happy to order off the menu, but the manager had a steak diner prepared that was very nice, but my girlfriend hates steak and found the meal repulsive.
The staff tried to solve the issues. Even move us a second time but at 11:30 it was too late to move again. Everything they tried to do was just wrong.
I won't go back.

CebuLarry, Owner at ALTA Cebu Resort, responded to this reviewResponded 1 July 2015

I an Larry, the owner. I asked our operations officer what had been done to fix his problems. She told me that our well trained staff did everything they possibly could to correct things ASAP, even offering to move him to a 3d room. According to his girlfriend he had come from another resort where he also had also reported various complaints. Our operations officer thinks perhaps he was partly to blame for so many problems... perhaps a clumsy sort of guy. When he did not give our restaurant an order for his free dinners, we just gave him the best thing on the menu, assuming it would be appreciated. All Filipino resorts have maintanance issues. I admit his were more than normal. I can’t remember the last time a guest had so many problems.

He claims I was there but would not help out. This is definitely not true. I had introduced myself to him when he first arrived and told him to come see me if he had any problems, so I am much surprised when he said I was indifferent to his situation.

Rooms are small but clean no and sufficient w a refrigerator, small flat screen and a DVD player and a nice pool, but the shower is not the best and most rooms do not have a tub. The closet is small and in the bathroom and the water spurts out of the sink so be careful. The restaurant service was very slow but the food was pretty good. The bed was low to the ground but comfortable. It's probably the best hotel in the area which is a poor area. There are no elevators so with lots of luggage a rm on the first floor maybe preferable. I did not bother to move once on the 2nd level so did not get to see the rooms on the 1st level. Rm 30 has a nice black marble floor. Rm 32 has a bed higher off the ground. Rm 33 has a bigger flat screen tv and a nice mural on the wall. Rm 5 has a tub and is considered deluxe. The room across from rm 5 looks really nice. All of these rooms are on the 2nd level.

The service was much better the food is better,
The water pressure in the rooms is much better, this is a great place to relax.
My girlfriend loved it here, and it really is a nice resort.
I suppose that's why I keep coming back.
the food is beautiful and a good range,
The pool is the main attraction and it's quite a nice resort to explore as it is quite big with colorful tropical gardens, lots of interesting places to take photo's
This place is suitable for every traveller, business, they have lots of conferences.
parents can have a drink and watch the kids in the pool and eat some nice food.
couples, singles,
Larry, the owner, always takes time to see how everything is going.
I will keep coming back,

Room tip: The taxi could take 15- 20 minutes, and 100 pesos on top of the fare, leave yourself enough time

Bamboo based rooms and resort. Nice pool (until invaded by the locals and/or the delegates from corporate meetings) and poolside bar. The hotel is difficult to find (even by taxi drivers). Our room was interestingly designed with a basic but functional shower! Wardrobe in the bathroom was a first. There was an outside delegation there when we were which sort of took over and didn't encourage relaxation - very noisy with too much cheering/clapping then they invaded the pool towards the end of the day. The singer on Saturday night in the bar area was unbelievably good.

I would like to commend the staff of this resort for really going out their way to ensure that the workshop that we had in this hotel went as smoothly as humanly possible. My organization was looking for a place in Cebu that would be conducive for a leadership, and they would able to attend to the transport and accommodation needs of around 25 people from all over the Philippines.

First off, they were able to pick up all our guests from the airport and deposit them safely to the hotel, and then bring us all back after our function, which lasted 4 days. All the hotel staff, from the reception, the guards, the waiters - they were all genuinely happy to serve us, from the conference room, to the dining areas, poolside (which was small but lovely, by the way).

The resort itself is a bit quirky, in terms of decor, which is basically Pinoy-Cebuano rustic, with a lot of funky touches in the room. You're surrounded by gardens with lots of tropical plants. Lots of interesting outdoor and indoor furniture, and they even have a walkway that meanders through mangroves. Too bad, the area is now being populated by informal settlers.

The rooms are a combination of Pinoy rustic-country and a bit of weird artwork, but this seems to jive with the overall feel of the place. Beds are comfortable and the bathroom has strong hot and cold water. I was amused by the mural on the wall in my room. The food during breakfast was simple, few Pinoy breakfast choices, and not that appetizing. But I loved the food that they prepared for our group for lunch and dinner. Again, it's simple local food that has that home-made taste, which we all appreciated.

If I would nit-pick from this whole experience - I would agree with the other commenters that this place is really along the path of airplanes landing at Mactan Airport. At first, the sound of jet engines booming above you can be a bit distracting, but you do get used to it. And the distance can be a problem if you want to see more of Cebu. This is out of the way, which is actually good if you want to have people concentrating for a workshop! So I highly recommend this place for groups who want to do workshops, team building, or just go out for a quick holiday. The price is just right, and even with the level of service, more than worth it!
