“Great Staff Excellent Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

After staying at one ot this Inns upmarket competitors the previous evening i was prepared for the worst.Nothing to worry about after all the staff were really nice the room large and clean with new bedding a slight problem with a light out and radiator in the bathroom not working but when i mentioned it to a member of staff the following morning she informed me it would be dealt with asap.I did have a problem with the internet as it would not connect in my room but this also is been looked into. The restarant has a great menu with lots of choice i went for the homemade steak and ale pie with mash and fresh veg excellent liked the fact that you get gravy in a gravy boat as a yorkshire man i cant eat food dry.
The pub/restaurant has a wide choice of beers wines and spirits i opted for a bottle of the house red with my meal very pleasant and well priced.
For anyone that likes a whisky or bourbon as a night cap a cracking collection to choose from.Finaly breakfast was as good if not better than i have had in some 4 star hotels and served by nice cheerfull staff this is one hotel that will remain on my use again list.

“Cosy and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Feathers Inn in Thundridge. A lovely cosy Country place. Staff are really nice and pleasent. Breakfast like a four star hotel. Not a place to stay if you looking to go shopping far from amenities. But definitely one for peace and quiet. Will go again.

“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011 via mobile

We stayed here recently on a trip to London, we didn't fancy staying in London so travelled in each day.
Great Hotel with lots of rooms, only problem is its not in Ware. So you can't just walk in to town or to the train station which we needed to. So it was £8 in a taxi to the train station and the same home again which adds on to the cost of a train ticket.

I can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't actually eat or drink in the hotel as we were spending our time in London although the breakfasts certainly set us up for the day! Best breakfast selection I think I've had in a hotel or bed and breakfast ever! And delicious to boot with the staff always checking that you have enough and if there is anything else they can do for you.

Book here if you don't mind being a little out of town, the restaurant and bar are enough if you want yea and a few drinks without having to venture furthher afield, staff in the hotel are great and breakfast was fab and all this for £65 a night!

“Very nice. but shame about the corporate menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Stayed with my wife on Friday, all staff very helpful & friendly, room fine and clean ( but 2 single beds very narrow - I fell out twice). Breakfast better that I have had in 4 star hotels and very efficient service.
Ate there in the evening, nice place & good ambience, food Ok, BUT I was dismayed by the Old English Inns identical corporate Menu and choice of beers, it seems that all of the Old English Inn chain have the same menu ( I live in Ely, our Local Hotel is the Lamb - the menu at the Feathers is identical to that - as is the George in Huntingdon) Also, as always, the beer is Greene King IPA or Old Speckled Hen - again, just the same as the Lamb.
This did rather spoil the evening for me and I will most likely not book into an Old English Inn again for this reason.

COME ON GREENE KING - HOW ABOUT A BIT OF VARIETY AND A GUEST ALE

Room Tip: Room 8 is away from the car park, nice & dark at night

Thank you for your constructive comments and kind remarks about the helpful and friendly staff team and efficient service , the Feathers is part of the Old English Inns Group and our menu which offers numerous dish choice and great value is changed twice a year and we do also offer daily changing specials. We are a part of the Greene King Group and are proud and fortunate to offer in my opinion the best cask ales in the world, we will look at your suggestion to have guest ales from time to time , thank you once again for you feedback.
