At the suggestion of our resort concierge, we took a snorkeling tour of the Great Mesoamerican Reef which is the second largest reef system in the world and the largest in the Western Hemisphere. The company he recommended was “Almost Heaven Adventures” in Puerto Morales. We were picked up and dropped off at our condo by the owner himself, Enrique. He made us feel welcome and provided a great mini-tour of the city. The snorkeling tour was a great value. We were able to spend more than 2 hours in the reef. We saw barracuda, coral grouper, pipefish, sea turtles, crabs and many other bright colored fish that I do not know the names for. I would recommend that you purchase an underwater camera for that once in a lifetime tour. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can purchase a disposable underwater camera for about $20-$30 in many stores around Cancun. Our snorkel guide was awesome and he made sure we all got to see some awesome sights. As for the cost, you will spend under $60 per person for the tour which includes pick up/drop off, all snorkel gear, boat trip, and experienced ocean guides. All you need is a towel! This is a great tour for beginners and experienced people. We took our 11 and 12 year old girls and they loved it!
