“Great Service - Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

We decided to stay in Sydney for a night and would normally stay over in the main city area. Reading a few reviews of this place they seem to be mixed. We certainly didn't have any issue although it could have been interesting..

We started with Valet parking which I read was as easy as arriving at the doorstep. It was. The German guy (Nicolas) who greeted us and took the car was fantastic and certainly raised the service bar from the start. He was friendly, interested and happy to talk and greet us to the hotel. Great start.

Walking into the hotel the team greeted us and took the very few bags we had and waited while we checked in. Checkin was simple and we were shown to our room, shown how to work everything and left to enjoy the fairly unique view over the docks with Warship and Queen Mary 2 in sight.

1 small hiccup, on checking our booking we had booked a different style room. I walked down and pointed this out and was compensated with breakfast being included and to apologise they sent up a bottle of red wine. A great way to start a dinner date.

While this was happening the staff (Kate, Front Desk) was apologetic and seemed to genuinely be sorry that the mistake had occurred.

Our room was a king room on the pier side, the bath and bathroom were great and we had no trouble with noise. I expect when the Waterbar is very busy, noise might be interesting as our room door was about 20 feet above the floor level of the bar. Midweek it was quiet and the city seemed far away.

We walked along the pier in the evening and the next morning walked over to Mrs Macquarie's Chair. Great walk and such a great view of the city. I would love to stay longer and explore the area more on foot.

For dinner we took a taxi (lazy us) to Kings Cross and had a great meal at a Japanese restaurant and walked back down the hill to the hotel.

Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel. Fresh, enough choice and the service (Krishna) was attentive and friendly. They knew who we were and that breakfast had been included.

Would love to see the rooms on the two upper floors but I was very impressed with the amenities and the level of service in a hotel that is a short walk from the CBD across the Domain. Super.

Room Tip: I expect rooms on the city side would be 1. a bit noisier due to the restaurants underneath, but the...

“Spectacular Building but a few niggles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

This one is difficult.

It's a spectacular building. I loved the way that the rooms are like a duplex studio apartment. Most of the staff also try as hard as they possibly can to please you too. The proximity of the restaurants on the wharf is also great.

The down side is that the walls between the rooms are quite thin and you can hear the some noise in your room from the next room. In addition there is no curtain over the window of the bathroom so if you get off the plane from the UK and want to grab some sleep the light floods in through the bathroom door...

“Nice and light and great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

Our stay at Blue was for 2 nights, Thursday and Friday. The position was okay and there were taxis outside most of the time. We had a room on the lower floor which was overlooking the marina and it was very comfortable with a nice large bathroom although the basin was a bit on the small side. The beds were very comfortable there was internet access which cost $15 a day, a large flat screen tv,. The bar goodies were quite expensive so we bought some nibbles from a shop over the road.
My only critiscism is that the noise from the restaurants downstairs on the marina and from the Hotel dining room or lounge, wafted up til quite late and disturbed our sleep.
The staff were really helpful with anything we asked for and the door staff and concierge went out of their way to offer assistance all the time.
Also a lot of road noise so I would ask for a room higher up or on the pier side I think next time.

Room Tip: Don't go on a Friday night or Saturday night if you can help it unless you have earplugs if you...

“Stylish waterfront hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Restored woolshed on Woolloomoolloo wharf; part hotel and part private apartments. Small gym, indoor pool, various (pricey) waterfront eateries also in building. Loft rooms are two-level, living down and bed/ensuite up. Lovely views, a little out of city centre, but a beautiful nice walk through the gardens into town. Chic, good service.

“Into the Blue....even if the sky wasn't”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The weather was not that flash, but the hotel was! The former W Hotel in Sydney is now part of the Taj group and what a great job they have done. Fantastic staff, super attentive and boutique uber chic lodgings right in Sydney...best part is you cannot go wrong with any of the restaurants that lie along the wharf below. We also conferenced at the hotel which made it all just soooo much easier and more enjoyable and felt like you got to linger in this lovely hotel just a little bit longer.

Room Tip: Of course you want to be wharf side - there are duplex rooms which are superior but have that loft b...
