Lucio's in Paddington, Sydney has always had a reputation as a quality "special occasion" restaurant, so it was an obvious choice for our group of six to celebrate a birthday, a wedding anniversary and a house purchase. We had entrees, mains and three bottles of wine and it cost $275 per couple. Had the food been fabulous it would have been money well spent, however it was not. The beetroot cured sashimi of kingfish consisted of three paper thin slivers of kingfish on a mountain of ribbon cucumber. The presentation was beautiful, but it should be. The best entree was the house made gnocchi - it was light, delicate and delicious. Four of our party chose the duck for their main course and two went with the spatchcock. The spatchcocks were delicious, perfectly cooked and it was served with eggplant and pine nuts. Sadly, every duck meal was dry and overcooked and not enjoyable. We told the waiter, but the amazing thing was that nothing happened. At a restaurant of this supposed quality, when a comment is made you expect the chef to come out or the maitre d' to come and discuss it, but nothing happened at all. We all felt that it was a very poor response to a legitimate concern. With the main courses starting around $40, there should be some assurance that your meal will be delicious. The wine list is extensive and expensive. In summary, there are lots of excellent restaurants in Sydney, Lucio's is not one of them.

Top flight italian at sydney legend. Dine surrounded by walls jammed with original works by some of Australia's best artists. Expensive but well worth it

It was my birthday so looking forward to a nice italian meal and something crispy cold to drink. 45 minutes after sitting down I still didn't have anything to drink.

Most clients speak very softly in this restaurant which is very unsual for Sydney, good clientale!!
