“Pub food done right. Enough said!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

The restaurant is accessed through the boozer in the front. The faint of heart may well bail out at this point and miss a treat.

The room is bright and airy and unchanged for many years. The tiny kitchen rolls out super sold pub grub - corned beef, lamb cutlets, sausages and fish and chips etc.

Never had a bad meal ever. I live in the US and eat here on overy trip home.

“expensive pub food, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

We went for the first time to this restaurant on a recommendation. The restaurant area of the pub looks elegant and is in line with the expensive menu. Regrettably that's about the only positive we could find on our visit. The food was uninspiring, very expensive, eg $39 for what was in reality an average serving of fish and chips. From the time we ordered, it took 1.15 hrs for the mains to be served. 3 minutes before the fish and chips finally appeared, the 'chef' (only to be seen outside the kitchen), finally came over to say that the food is about to be served. Until then we were only occasionally looked after by a pushy waitress trying to 'inspire' us to order more wine. Very disappointing.

“Good, honest food done well and piled high”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

Had a lovel meal at the Dining Room of the Bellevue Hotel. A pub I frequented as a much younger lad, it was at first a little unnerving disappearing down a side alley and in through the TAB - but well worth the journey. A wonderful mix of the innovative and good honest food. A delightful cheese souffle followed by crumbed cutlets (my favouritest dish in the whole world...) and a creme brulee to feed a family. Others had foie gras and fish and steak dishes which were equally raved about. Servings are generous, to say the least so plenty of value. Everything beautifully done and a great service - friendly and efficient.

“Expensive pub food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2009

Not bad if you didn't expect much. However we understand this is the same Chef who operates Bistro Moncur, so we did expect more than pub food for the prices charged. Service is only average.

“Great food, pretty good...”

Great food, pretty good service, little bit expensive. Best corned beef I've ever had. Great winelist.
